well done. if the hen is a white then the chick should be a white cock bird????? some one on here will confirm this as I am not the best at working out the sex links

Hi Penny,

To get a White in a clutch which is true to the parents (non fostered in) then both parents need to be carrying the Pied/White gene.( gene is recessive)

So if the mum is a visual White then Dad needs to be carrying the gene. BUT there are quite a few mutations out there that could look like white.

Hope that those members will explain if it not a Pied/White

I don't think this chick is white. I'm pretty sure that white birds have horn coloured beaks, not black. If there are black feathers next to the beak then this is likely to be a black breasted chestnut flanked white.

Well done Andy, I'd missed the point about beak colour. (and I breed Pied/Whites too. Duhhh!)

Do BBs not have tail markings?

BB's do have tail marks, drops rather than blocks, but I've found that some cfw's don't have particularly visible tails markings until after their first moult. Although this bird has a very light head colour for a cfw.

The bird in the picture is the closest I've got to a white zeb. She is a black face CFW split for bb and bc and never developed tear marks. I'll breed from her soon to make up my mind whether she is split bb or full.
