  2. the chicks r such cute balls of feathers! i don't have any pictures of a double crest guys:( i once saw a double crested hen at a breeder's place. it was a pure white hen. never seen it again though. they do exist but are rare.
  3. yes indeed. that would be wonderful!
  4. thats a double crest then. a double crest where i live is sooooo expensive! u have a treasure in the form of double crested finch!
  5. i meant that if i have 2 crested birds i will breed both of them to non crested birds. i will not breed them together! u r right
  6. hi all i have posted latest pictures of the male which i posted earlier. This cock is mature now and the pictures are better. so people help me to identify this cock!
  7. i wish i had a hen like this so that i could breed it with my silver balck cheek cock
  8. hey punky. you are really lucky to get such a big clutch of crested! i just want a couple of crested so that i can have a whole flock of crested zebras and if i do i will be rich:P lol
  9. hi casamber, i know how it feels when u want a particular type of offsprings and u just dont get them lol. i hope u get all of the offsprings as black faces in future. good luck!
  10. thanks skm. Actually i'm always confused when it comes to genetics. but now i get it. InshaAllah i will get crested this time.
  11. hi all the pair mentioned in this topic had sucessfully raised 3 chicks but none of them was a crest. can anyone tell me why? atleast 1 should have been a crest. secondly i was thinking that the male is CFW crested so it should be bred with a normal CFW hen for increasing the chances of getting a crested chick. do u guys agree with this? i think the black cheeked female has a stronger genetic influence than the CFW crested male, is that the reason i did not get any crested chicks? The pair is on eggs again, is there any chance at all to get crested chicks this time? if not then with what kind of a hen i should breed the CFW crested cock?? thanks
  12. hello punky, there can be many reasons for the eggs to be infertile. Did u put a bowl of water for the couple? Zebra finches like to bath everyday in water and the water from the bath is very necessary for keeping the eggs moist. If eggs dont get moisture, they don't hatch. This can be one of the reason. I will suggest you to give them another go. If the eggs are not fertile again, then there might be a problem with your male probably. Crest X Crest zebra finches are sometimes infertile. Your male might be a crest x crest offspring. Try changing the male if the problem persists. Adil
  13. hi all, Scott your cock is almost exactly the same like mine. What were its parents? My cock was a result of normal black cheek X Normal black cheek. Paul the last cock wasn't developed fully in the pic, i didnt know its age, but now it has fully developed its colors and has got full light brown flanks and chest bar lines. What kind of a cock has a yellow cheek? this one has a yellow cheek
