  1. It's my partners, she got it from her dad who keeps fancy type of chickens, we been using it for a year or 2 now hatching chickens so the kids can see. Will see if I can find some info on it well if I bothered to turn it over I would have seen this

  3. Not sure what type this is but it's a manual one (turn the eggs yourself)
  4. My CPQ is still sitting on her eggs, about 5-6, these should hatch this week, fingers crossed. Also got these Japenese quail eggs to put in the incubator
  5. Maybe I can train them to be homing quail and they could fly to you..... I say fly maybe a series of jumps to you ?
  6. Needless to say I may be looking for homes for these if anyone is interested
  7. I have 5 Chinese painted eggs in an incubator and 5 in the aviary with the hen sitting on, she just won't get of them so have high hopes with those. Well this little fella hatched this morning with more pipping in the other eggs, so here's the first from the incubator
  8. I have 1 cock diamond dove, his partner died a few weeks ago, and he has teamed up with my pair of Java Sparrows and all get along very well ( i think he thinks he's a Java ) but recently he has been cooing quite a lot and I don't like to see my birds without a partner, I always buy as pairs. Do I get a single hen bird or maybe 2 hens, would this encourage breeding or cause problems? also thinking of another pair of Java Sparrows, I had a single pair of canaries and they wasn't interested in each other, but when I got a 2nd pair the singing increased and now nest building is on the go, so will the same happen with the javas ?
  9. Any suggestions for what what to use as dust for my quail? im thinking a cat littered tray with play sand or the kiln dried sand, the type used for brushing into slabs
  10. Thanks for all the kind comments, I really am enjoying this hobby, can watch them for hours. Pics are with my phone but may try with camera i already have plans in place to extend Emmy lol
  11. thanks, it was a challenge building in the rain we had a few weeks ago, but all done now and rather pleased with it.
  12. Hi guys, I'm kinda new to the hobby, my first time at keeping birds, but have had them in the family for a couple of years, my dad had a large aviary and now it's time I did. So I have built myself an outside aviary 7ft long 8ft wide and 6ft tall connected to a 8x4 shed. Had birds for 2 weeks now, 3 pairs of Zebra Finches, pair of Java Sparrows, pair of Diamond Doves and a pair of Canaries. I'm looking to get another pair of Canaries (mrs wants orange ones) pair of Owl Finches and some Quail (2 hens and a cock), All are doing great with plenty of flying, singing, bathing and now nest making with 2 eggs already! So stand by you guys for plenty of questions Got a few nice grasses in now for the Quail to play in and a bird bath on top of the black stand you can see, and of course a nice layer of sawdust on the floor.
