You are lucky Penny. I've tried Cream this year and paired the same as you but all I've had is Fawn.
Nice photo of you and Steve in this week's C&AB mag. Hope all goes well for your up coming wedding.
-
So will try and help here Penny. I think if you go on 'Efinch' site and see the difference between Lightback and Silver and the Fawn to Cream. The cocks in Cream are are creamy body colour and the Cheek patch is lighter than Fawn. The only way I can tell a hen cream is that the body colour is lighter than Fawn and the tail and tear marking are a lighter colour than Fawns ones. (I only just started with cream this year).
Your Pied Penguins would be shown in Pied Class. (it's a Pied in the first description) In the description of Normal Hen the underparts (belly) should be 'Buff' but the Normal Cock 'White' but may be 'fawnish' near the vent.
I've only ever bred Lightback Pieds but they were noticeable from the lightness of the grey on their backs. Description says 'Silvery Grey with 'White underparts with 'Pale Orange' cheek patch. A Silver description says Pale silvery grey on head and neck with back and wings 'Silver Grey and 'Pale Orange or Cream cheek patches.
Hope that helps. I knew the Chris Blackwell book would come in handy. But if you are concerned bring them to the SW&SCZFC Summer Show on 12th August and we'll get the more senior members to check you have them right before you enter the cages. (it's enter on the day) See you there maybe.

Absolutely BRILLIANT. It could only happen with Emmy. Lovely story!!

Penny, all your Penguin birds are all carrying the Pied gene (recessive)
-
That is great Emmy. Looks like Shadow is carrying Pied genes too.
-
Will you be coming down to the SW&SCZFC show Penny? and what bloodline/s are your CFWs to go?
-
You are not alone with too many Cocks Penny. I had same problem with first round and had 8 CFW cocks and 2 hens with 4 Normal cocks and 1 hen, but things seemed to even out a bit with more hens in second round so keep going I would say.
Sorry to hear about your other birds too.

Well done Penny.
I think you are doing things right but if you have already put nest boxes in for Zebies you could end up with chicks too big for rings when they arrive 6th Jan.
If that does happen, you could use a little slippage assistance on the inside of ring. Perhaps try a little water/spit first. If no go, try mild washing up liquid or failing that good old Vaseline. But clean off any excess of the last two items.
Good luck with all your birds.

Good on you Penny, Have you been bitten by the show bug now I wonder. Did Steve do any good with his Budgies?.

I got given a 'Robopolly' for Christmas a few years ago. It was good fun and the Grand-kids loved it.
-
Thanks for sharing Emmy. As always I find your bird stories fascinating and I reckon you should get a Damehood for the work you do.
-
Oh Emmy, keep this coming please.
-
As always Emmy.. I love your stories about all your animals and birds.. This is just great and good video too.
Keep it going Bobby, I'm sure you'll get her trained one day

Love It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Penny,
I tried a similar situation with a split BC hen (that I bred from a BC cock) paired to an unrelated BC cock and got 5 chicks with non being BC.
I don't know what the laws of probability are but I was quite disappointed. I think you can only be certain of producing what you want by pairing both visual birds.
Good luck.

And I thought you ladies were the strong ones where we men get man flu you battle on regardless.
Seriously Penny, hope your back to good health soon.
With regard to making photo files smaller you can try this site- https://pixlr.com/ select the 'editor' app and then 'launch web app' when you are in you will get a box asking where you want the files from. ( If you've saved it to a computer then select that one) Once it's in the frame go to top of page and click on Image button, go to size and when you get box telling you the size of the file you can change it to anything but it's probably best to go for 680 x 460 (if there is a little tick in a small box then the system will automatically change the second size to what it thinks should correlate with the 680. Once you have changed the size go to 'File' and 'save' Save it in place of your original (over writs) on computer.
You should be able to upload it to the Forum post now. The forum system does also make images smaller but shouldn't cause any problems.
Any problems PM me and we'll go to the Forum 'chat' room.
Hope that helps but there might be others who can also advise.

Wishing you all the best in your new house Penny. Hope you and Steve will be happy there and you both breed lots of birds.
Your story about the Budgie in a neighbour's conservatory reminded me of when we lost an aviary Zebra Finch and one of our neighbours called round to say had we lost one as they had one fly into there living room and help them selves to their Budgie's seed..

So!, what is the song that the duet sang then?

I loved that Emmy. You are just going to have to write that book and I think people would have a real chuckle when reading.
There is a book out called 'Kornflakes' a few years old now, but your blogg narratives always put me in mind of it.
Keep em coming please.
