Hit One Of My Targets

Recommended Posts

All,

This young male comes from my shed he's now in the aviary colouring up, checked on him today and really pleased.

He's going to have black flanks, first one I've seen let alone breed.

I've posted two photos of the same zeb, let me know what you think,

It's taken me to the third season to get one building up for two seasons and at the first attempt in the third season got one.

Thanks for looking,

Trevor :)  :)

Nice bird , my favourite colour out of all colours.

I have a bc/splt cfw. Also my cfw hen.

Do I breed them together for that colouration or is it a bit hit and miss?

Hi Trevor,

Great looking Zeb.

Clare,

Yes I am started off with bought in zeb's but the  last 2 seasons it's my stock which is the most pleasing thing.

I will use him next season definitely, putting him with a BFBC hen from this season to keep the strong black running.

Hi Trevor,

Even better when its from your own stock.

Thats what I have been doing, Its slow going but am starting to see results.

Will that be BFBC CFW that you are hoping to get next?

That sounds like it could be quite a stunning combination.

Clare,

Yes i'm heading in that direction, but I think the black will be stronger by doing it this way, if I introduce a BCCFW hen I think it will be a step back.

If it's the other way around and I get a BCCFW hen I will then pair her to a BFBC to improve or stabilise the darker black markings.

Hope you can see what i'm saying,

Thanks for your interest,

Trevor :)

Hi Trevor,

That does make sense.

I'm looking to get black flank markings with my BC's.

This year they have been showing more black in thier flanks than previous, but I have noticed that my BC LB hen shows black flanks.

So I'm thinking that if I breed her with the best of my BC Cocks I should be able to increase the black in the flanks.

I hope you achieve BFBC CFW It really does seem like it will be a stunning Zeb!

I think that the Black & White Combinations are stunning in contrast.

It will be very interesting to see.

Clare
