yeasir2148 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2014 Hi breeders, I have a fawn male(double factor/normal father, fawn mother). I am going to get hold of a penguine female. I am not sure if she's single or double factor. Can i breed these 2? What am i supposed to get from them? Also is there any genetic calculator online that i can use to guess the chicks mutation? Thanks/Yeasir
KareemSerry 16 Report post Posted August 11, 2014 If no hidden mutations you would get : 50% Normal male/ Fawn and Penguin 50% Fawn female/ Penguin I think there is something called a genetic adviser. just google it. -Kareem

paulm 119 Report post Posted August 11, 2014 Hi In Penguin Zebra finches the Mutation belongs to the recessive mutation group and it takes two forms regardless of back ground colour i.e Normal, Fawn or other. The first form is called A Visual bird which has two copies of the penguin gene one from each parents and the mutation is manifested in a visual manner. The other we call a split, this bird has only one copy of the mutation Gene inherited from the one parent who also has the mutated Gene and has passed it to the young bird. Paul.
