Welcome to our community.
Your birds should be fine together as Zebra Finches do not like to be kept in isolation, but you will need to separate one of the females if you are planning to breed them.

15 minutes ago, Papajay said:Hmm well the mum is probably 5 and daughter (black cheek) a couple of years old..
You may struggle with the older of the two, but it's worth a try.

Hi Jay,
Do have any idea of age? The only reason I ask is that as Zebras get older their wings become more frail until they eventually loose the ability to fly. So depending on age it could be a problem.
If on the other hand the birds are still young, you do have a chance, but you will need to build their wing muscles up gradually. One of the ways you could do this is to place them in a bigger cage something similar to a double breeding cage so they can learn to fly again and gradually build their muscle tissue.
I would also introduce a multi vitamin supplement to their food or water as well and a nice sized piece of cuttle fish bone.
Hope this helps.

Well, well, well I am gobsmacked, although I must admit the Iphone does take a good picture.
Got myself a 70d recently, not tried it out fully yet also looking to get a new long lens to add to the collection.

Thanks for the information Trevor.
From what I can see of the cock bird he's got a nice head and colour on him, is he one of the birds you got from the continent?
Good luck with these you've put a lot of work in to your colours and it really seems to be paying dividends.
Please keep us updated

I have to agree, it's always the best birds that tend to have the problems. When you think of how the Zebra Finch size has increased over the years, then ailments are one of the unfortunate traits that will follow. Sometimes I don't think we appreciate how these birds have developed over the years. I regularly say to myself you wouldn't expect a chiwawa to grow to the size of a bulldog and still breed...
I've got a CFW hen that I've been trying to breed all year, but with no success? Three weeks ago I found her on the bottom of the cage barley moving so I moved her to the hospital cage and I've only just put her back in a double breeder with my pensioners. it's taken lots of time and TLC to bring her back, so I can appreciate the work that you have put in.
The hospital cage is one of the best pieces of equipment I own and I'd recommend everyone has one for times like these.
I also have a double breeder dedicated to the oldies of the flock and those recovering from ailments, they tend to look after each other as they get older.
Good luck with your hen and I hope she recovers fully.
