I joined this zebra finch forum after searching the internet to find a forum that would give me the answers to the many (perhaps some may think silly) questions I have re zebra finches. I havent been disappointed everyone is so willing to help. After having been on this forum and reading about the ZFS I have been thinking about joining the ZFS but as I dont 'show' the finches that I have I'm not sure if I could join? But whether I join or not I will still post here. You are all so good and have a wealth of information that you dont hesitate to share - better than can be found in books.Emmy

Many thanks Trevor I did use the link - the photographs are outstanding.Showing my ignorance here, what are 'abb's'? There was nothning printed at the top of each photograph only thing I noticed was that they have been marked copyright. The reason I thought it would be good to show an example of the bird next to the 'intials' is for people like me ( past their sell by date )would become aware of what others were 'talking' about on the forum.I enjoyed looking at the photographs made me feel like getting my watercolour paints out - but cant do that re the copyright. Just love painting wildlife.This is one of my own photographs that I painted of my grandson feeding a chick.Emmy

Re the first post about 'which do you keep?' Is there anywhere, illustrations linking these names to the colour of the birds is available. Sorry to be such an 'uneducated person' but the only colours I know are the normal zebra finches and the cfw and the fawn and that's only because I have had the normal coloured zebra finches and from a photograph I posted of the ones I have now I was told I have a fawn hen and a chestnut flanked white male.Emmy

This is one of my new chicks - could this one perhaps be a normal coloured zebra finch or will I have to wait until its a bit older to find out?Mother is 'fawn' Father is 'chestnut fawn flanked white.Emmy

Gary that video is just amazing I tried to video my newly hatched chicks to send to my grand-daughter in France but it didnt work -very blurred- maybe it was where the nest was in the cage and I couldnt get a proper focus - your video is just perfect. Thanks for sharing it. Emmy
