Aspen 2 Report post Posted June 24, 2014 What color are the tails on lightbacks? Are they always dark?
Andyn 534 Report post Posted June 24, 2014 Hi! The book says that tail in both sexes should be ' Black with white bars' (that's for Normal and Fawn) Andy
Nick Hall 193 Report post Posted June 24, 2014 The darker and more defined the better the colour of the bird in most cases Regards Nick
Aspen 2 Report post Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks for the answers. What about fawns? Does anyone have a picture of a lightback fawn hen? I am still trying to figure out my enigma female. Thanks.

Aspen 2 Report post Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks jonmpope. I can see the tail in the bottom picture and it is quite dark - different than my light grey girl. I am wondering if she is Isabel and light back? Anyone know that that combination looks like?
KareemSerry 16 Report post Posted July 2, 2014 Isabel removes all black markings so its not that. Maybe Florida Silver Lightback ? Grey LB FF(sf)? Could you post a picture? -Kareem
Aspen 2 Report post Posted July 3, 2014 I put up a bunch of pictures in this thread: http://zebrafinchforum.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/5885-any-guesses-as-to-colors-on-these-youngsters/ I have found the breeder I got the parents from. She has Isabel and lightback in her lines. She even had penguin a long way back and maybe that as a recessive is still hanging around. She can't be straight lightback because of the grey tail.
