Hi from Northwest Kent

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps,

im Stuart from Northwest Kent and am stating back up again in breeding and exhibiting finches after a several year lay off from various and family health issues,

prior to me having the break for the last few years I had been a champion breeder and exhibitor of British, mules and canaries and been in the bird game for over 30 odd years ,

ive managed to sought meself me birdroom out which is a 9 x 5 ( feet ) brick built shed and was from one of me garden sheds that I'm still currently in the procedure of constructing and converting, the shed never had a window in it beforehand but have now fitted a large window in the front of the shed to expose as much light as possible,

the front wall brick work on the exterior will eventually be cladded at a latter date for neatness :hi:

got plenty to be getting on with as I've gotta also build all if me new cages yet, preferably with the metal punch bar fronts as these are what I've always used and rekon that these are the best  :good:

Hi daisy,

Do you keep colour canaries aswell as I remember seeing you on the colour canary forum, do you have many zebras :hi:

to be onest with you daisy I've had most types of birds throughout my life but mainly specialised in exhibiting British, mules and of course at the time for a good number of years my Yorkshires until I had a break in me birds for the last few years because of various and family health issues etc.

now ive come back into the fancy I've sought of had a bit of shock horror as I've always known good canaries to be quite dear but the yorkies I was looking at were in excess of £100.00 each  and more, can get an awful lot cheaper I suppose but the quality appears to rapidly go down hill,

Im really looking forward to getting me birdroom soughted with all of me new cages etc,

its not going to happen overnight daisy as its gonna take me a lot of time and money as it is in getting the birdroom straight and that's not including getting me birds

i will be updating the birdroom pics at various times over the next few months as there's still plenty to do :hi:

Hi Stuart,

I'm not in North Kent,  I'm about 15 miles south of maidstone. I had a few birds from Keith a while back. He's a really nice guy and what a great setup. It's Keith that has made me want to show my birds, his enthusiasm is very infectious.. Hopefully I'll be able to get a couple of decent pairs together.

I look forward to seeing you at the shows.

£100.00 plus EACH!!:shok: omg thats daylight robbery!!!

i do not have any zebs yet but i intend to get some soon and possibly some bengalese. i love these little birds and all the colours they come in.

i am on the fife canary forum, i have only just started in birds and its been nothing but disaster, but i love my little fifes anyway:wub:  it seems to me (but i may be wrong) that members of my local cbs seem to look down on these wonderful little birds, one person looked really embarrased when they said they bred bengalese !!! well, i love them and i dont care what other bird breeders think of them.

Yea daisy don't let people put you off of zebs and bengalese as these are just as highly prised as any other bird, it's a lot harder to exhibit a very good quality pair of zebras than it is to exhibit a rare foreign bird, the chances are that the rare foreign probably won't even have a set std to be judged by,

zebras and bengalese will always hold there own :yahoo:

hope you manage to find some good birds down your way :good:

Hi Stuart,

Welcome to the forum, Not a million miles away from me you nice to see other breeders on here that are a bit closer.

Be good to see some pics of your bird room once finished.

Bit gobsmacked at the price of the yorkshire canaries, I thought my red factors were expensive.
