  1. Hi Emmy,

The cages that I had on display at Stafford had slanted roofs so I had to put the LED's at the front of the cage as this was the only part that was level.

My test breeding cages are fitted with the LED's in the centre of the cage so that the light is reflected evenly across the cage.

    hope this helps,

    Gary.

  2. Welcome to the forum.

Have you looked at this mix. How to make your own Egg Food

There's also a Free download here:

    http://zebrafinchforum.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/9-/

The eggs in your mix should give you enough moisture without the need to add any other oil, you can also add a small amount of honey, but don't over do it as it will make your mix very tacky (glutinous).

Wheatgerm oil is also a good additive if you can source it.

    Hope this helps,

    Gary.

  3. I agree with Andy, it's usually a problem with young hens and you normally see it in the colder months.

You need to keep her in a warm place, which will help her to recover some strength to pass the egg..

    Hope this helps,

    Gary.

  4. Hi Emmy,

Glad you enjoyed the video and also found it useful, you won't find anything cheaper to run than led's. The power unit in the video uses just 5W, so you could have 5 of these and still only use the same as 25W candle bulb.

    Hope this helps,

    Gary.

  5. Good evening all,

Here's the video showing the IKEA led kit and how to convert it from a normal switch to a remote control.

I also show how the all the functions on the remote work, along with the dimmer.

You will also see how easy it is to upgrade the unit to work with different types of led strips.

The video is in two parts and is approx 20 minutes long, so get the kettle on sit back and hopefully enjoy the show.

    Hope you enjoy it.

    Gary.

  6. Here's a short video of the double banked 12" pieces length ways across a double breeder.

As you can see the young birds in this cage are not bothered in the least.

I've also received the additional connections I need to convert the kit I purchased from Ikea, so I'll post a video once the conversion is complete.

  7. As promised here's a short video clip showing the two single 7" strips in place fully illuminated.

I hope you find it interesting.

    More to come soon.

    Gary.
