Hi lads thanks for all your replys most helpful.Sorry I have not replied earlier but my body decided it needed 10 days in hospital I can't really take credit for it happening as all the birds in the aviary are free to pair how they wish! So Trevor not sure of parentage, thanks for the link Mark **** of a lot of learning to do about these little birds

What is the best way to help this young bird with a broken wing feather? It seems to be broken close to the body, was thinking of snipping it off outside of the break, any thoughts?

Is this my first black cheek? If so presumably it is a cock because it has the cheeks? So what is the equivalent of a black cheek hen or is there no such line?

Thanks for the replys lads I have just had 10 days in hospital and now feather seems to have gone but bird not flying properly yet, but looks alert and eating ok
