Why do you give canary food? Does it have any benefits or is it just for a bit of variety in there diet?

When I bought mine and my sons birds (a pair each) a couple of weeks ago they were two normal male and two cfw females. We put them in pairs and once they were in there cages I let him pick which pair he wanted and thats was that. Pretty much straight away they all started moulting and his cfw started showing males colours so I think in my inexperiance I was sold a young bird. I explained what had happened (he's 11) and I said we would get 2 more cages and 2 hens so he could still let his birds breed when the weather warms up to this he said they look happy together and would like them to stay together as a "***" couple. I couldn't help but wet myself laughing. We now have a pair for life, he is right though they have bonded well and seem very happy together.

Hello

The window and the door are what are concerning me. With the door i'm thinking of making a wood frame for the back then insulating like the walls. The window I was thinking of putting a second sheet of glass or perspex on the inside as a sort of poormans double glazing. Also for the window I was thinking of making a pair of insulated shutters that I could shut at night when the weather gets cold, these would also be handy for bonfire night and newyears when the idiots get there fireworks out. Eventualy I would like proper double glazed window and door, the glass door would let loads more light in during the day.

What is best for insulating a bird room. I was thinking normal loft insulation with either mdf or ply boarding. Do you need to insulate the floor aswell and ifso how.

Tried carrot today. Sliced some off with a potato peeler and some bigger chunks and they just made a mess with it. Will try some apple next time.
