Hi Clare, when I first viewed the picture I noted that the tear mark was a little dark, and also that there were a few dark ripples on the tail bars, but looking at the picture again in its larger size then no I think it may just be a normal silver, as if it was Silver Lightback then the Silver colour would be a little more consistant and even, so my mistake, I have breed many Silvers over the years in both Lightback and Dominant a great mutation to keep and breed...

Try using natural perching i/e apple tree or willow twigs, also check the birds feet...are there tiny cracks or splits in his feet...? if so this could be caused by scaly leg mite, I have had this before with Zebra's, first of all clean the feet in warm soapy water and dry the feet carefully then cover the feet with a thin coating of vasaline, cllean out your stock cage using a strong water bleach mix, then use only paper as a floor covering making sure you change the paper daily untill the infection goes , you may need to wash and re-apply the vasaline every other day for upto 10 days to eradicate the mites, they are killed by suffocation so the washing process should infact kill the mites...hope this helps....

Cheers Pete,Wayne & Paul, and every one else, thankfully I still have a few very good friends in the fancy so finding the right stock is not going to be a problem, and as im only going to be keeping a small stud it well be easy to put together, my foundation stock is already in place so looking forward to getting these paired up shortly...

Hi I am new to this forum, and I have just returned to keeping Zebra Finches after a break  from the hobby for the last 3 years, I am a former Panal Judge, Area Rep, and Chairman of the Zebra Finch Society, I also built the ZFS Web Site, along with Laus, I only keep exhibition Zebra's and over the years I have kept most Colours, at the moment I am working with Fawns....
