    Fawn Chicks 2011

Paul, I like them, nice shape head + small beak. Are they the only two from nest ? I would think you are pleased with them paul. Trevor Ps good pic's as well.
  2. I've aquired a BCCFW male but he has got chestnut flank markings rather than black. To eliminate the chestnut to black do i put him to:- 1 Normal Grey and start again 2 CFW that is carrying BC3 BCCFW Thanks in advance, Trevor
  3. May, Well what can i say not a good breeding month at all. 5 young in total 3 of my White types from Cr CFW x G/C. Other 2, 1 x Grey & 1 x G/C from F/C x Cr Grey. In Norfolk, weather has been extreamly dry no rain for a few months and high temps. As i write this blog things have took a boost with 3 boxes with 4 youngsters in each. Weather over the last few weeks has become cooler (just a bit) and a bit of rain which i think is helping to kick in the breeding again. Hopefully a bit more happening in june so watch for my next blog at the end of this month.
  4. Mark, The male on the left without chest bars does look like a Isabel, probually wrong though. Good birds, especially that hen. Well done! Trevor
  5. No! No! No! No! No! I was transfered to the premier league and i'm lovin' it Trevor
  6. Hi Richard, Welcome ! I've been in contact with you before on the other site along with others from usa and australia. Welcome again from this side of the pond. Regards Trevor
  7. Paul, It's an aviary bird, so i can't really say his parents, this is the down fall of aviary breeding but on a plus you stand more chance of getting that something a little bit different. It's like that other pic i posted with that BF which had flank markings when it came out, it now looks as if it's getting quite a bit of orange on him, this to is another aviary bird. Trevor
  8. Hi all, On the 1st may i posted a pic of what i thought is a Silver youngster well here's an updated pic. I'm nearly sure it's a silver but he's the most diluted one i've had. You can now see barring on the tail + white spots on the flank and white cheek patch. The white markings against the body colour will now give you an idea of how dilute he is. Once again any comments would be good. Thanks in advance, Trevor
  9. Andy, Next one is in october, 3 sales a year feb, june and oct. I will post in show/sales section when nearer the time. Trevor

  14. Managed to get photo of the bird in question, as you can see it is very pale but it has a barred tail. The flash has possibly made it whiter than normal but only a shade lighter. Is it a pale silver ? While i was in the aviary this little chap came crashing about in the aviary. He's a Greycheek pied. I tried to cage breed this type last year but only had 3, so would you beleive it one of the males i bred last year is the dad of this little chap, i'm well chuffed Trevor
  15. Hi Colin, Welcome to the ZFF, you will deffinatly gain some info on here. It's a good friendly site ask anything you like. All the best, Trevor
  16. This weekend i was checking my aviary and this youngster was flying around completely looking after itself. The colour is a very very dilute grey. I think it's a silver, but can you get them really pale in colouring ? Being in a aviary i haven't a clue to the parents. I'll try for pic, if i'm successful it will come on a further post. Any info please, Thanks in advance, Trevor
  17. Hi Diane, Glad you made the effort to get on here, you definately wont regret it. Trevor
  18. Hi Brian, Welcome to zff, you will not be disappointed that you've joined. They're a good bunch on here, all the best' Trevor
  19. Not much happened a lot of clear eggs. The F/C x Cr Grey 1 youngster died, but the BF fawn x F/C with 3 young turned out to be a Fawn, F/C and a F/C dark type. BCCFW x Cr G/C white type have got 2 young 1 x Cr G/C and 1 x G/C white type. The cheek patch colour has improved but not to what i want. F/C x Cr Grey have young 2 or 3, leaving alone cos they are a bit of a flighty pair. G/C x CFW have 1 young it's a Grey. Thats all to report for last month. Next report May 1st 2011.
  20. Hi Sherry, I either use just a hard boiled egg finely mashed in a small dish or a mixed egg/soft food which you can buy, go for the moist ready made food because this lasts longer in the dish and you don't have to add water, other ready made soft food you have to add water and they soon go off. Trevor
  21. Hi Sherry, First of all welcome to the site i'm sure you will enjoy it on here it's a 1st class site. Right first and foremost don't over complicate things, zeb's are tough little chaps. No need to be fancy, let nature take its course with the incubating, you know when they are due to hatch. From a personal point of veiw i put egg food in soon as they hatch but in needs to be changed don't leave in there more than a day. Don't be to inquisitive leave the brood alone sit on your hands. As for the bath get a cage type bath which hooks over the doorway. Hopes this helps, but everybody has a different system but they are kept simple. All the best, Trevor
  22. Hi Mark, Like your birds especialy the creams good stock you've got there. Hope you don't mind me saying but is that a crack in the perch on the lightback pic or is it a mark, if it's a crack i would replace or tape over for the time being toes can easily get in there. Please don't think i'm finding fault but i'd hate for something to happen. Trevor
  23. Hi Kim, Yes it is a really good friendly site, don't hesitate to ask any questions what someone doesn't know someone else will. Welcome! and all the best with your birds, Regards Trevor.
  24. Hi Pete, Are the birds in question (LB Cheeked) white bodied or grey bodied ? Reason for asking is that i put that pairing into the genetic advisor and looked at the colour of them and they look very simular to the GC mutation. Is this right ? Cheers Trevor
  25. Nice one Jeff, hope everything works out for you.Looking forward to seeing pic's, if i was to guess i would say BFBBBC fawn = (triple black fawn). All the best with your find, Trevor
