  1. Good bird Pete, Do you breed them regularly and are the parents cfw x gc. Cheers Trevor
  2. Nice one Ty, Stick with the black cheeks now you've made the break through with them, stick at it now you're getting your own bloodline hardest bit is done. With BC x BC later with your stock it should start to really grow. All the best Ty, Trevor Ps have those crested bc's bred yet?
  3. I managed to pick up 3 x bccfw's this year, i've got 2 of them paired off 1 with cfw split bc1 with gc white type to see if i can improve the faded cheek patch. In the aviary i've got 2 x bc greys, 1 x bc fawn and a bc l/backI've also got 4 x BFBC all males, so hopefully i can keep some for a few more year Trevor
  4. Scott, I think it's a shame, same with black cheeks they are getting scarcer as well. Unless you are lucky enough to buy any of these fair enough, a lot of people are not interested in trying to breed them from the start. Most of these people do not join this type of forum to learn how to. This is why i like colour breeding i can spend time doing this, but from the show point of veiw time is not on their side if anyone starts out to show creams you would probably have to buy your stud to get going or on the other hand change to a different colour. When i sell at newark i'm always asked for cream, blackcheeks especialy bccfw's and pieds all of these to get yourself you have to work at. Hope you can see what i'm trying to put acrossed. Trevor
  5. Paul:- It was 2009 that i bred my first cream from a Fawn x Silver pair not very productive out of two broods i got two hens. But having said that from only one of the hens (just as a trial run in 2010). I had two broods 1st brood 4 young = 3 x fawn + 1 x cream, 2nd brood 5 young = 3 x cream + 2 x fawn. This will back up what i said yesterday about splitting that pair of creams that mark has which you agreed what i said. I took 2 creams to newark and they sold fairly quick, i think they are a popular colour with people. Trevor
  6. Personally i would split them up and pair with fawns, this is what i've done with mine which i bred in 2010. I think you get a better cream colour by pairing to fawn, also you can get a stud of creams quicker as well. Approx 50% of the nests i was getting were cream.2nd I would split those birds up because you don't want the hen mating with a different male colour. If it's possible i would put all the hens together to stop this happening, until you pair up. Hope this helps, Trevor
  7. Mark, Seem as if it was a good sale/show, shame i coudn't get there.Still got those timors, had 3 enquiries but all asked if i was going to stafford, and i didn't know anyone from my area who was going.I will send some pic's soon so you can see em!Hope you get some good birds off your stock, pair up, sit back, and wait. Trevor

CFW x G/C white type = (2 broods)6 young 3x G/C whites & 2x CFW + 1 young 2nd brood (skin) F/C x Cr Grey = 1 young (skin) BF Fawn x F/C = 3 young (skins) More next month!

  11. Hi Mark, Welcome to the ZFF, a really good and well run forum, i've enjoyed the short time i've been a member on here. All the best, Trevor.
  12. Hi Paul, Thanks alot for the info i appreciate that. Did you get the genetics from somewhere or is it your personal experience. If it was the former one could you supply details please. I've got the zfs book of matings but that only goes so far with the mutations. Thanks again, Regards Trevor.
  13. Hi all, Can anyone clear this up, i've looked on a genetic site and one of the possibilities of matching a F/C male x Grey hen is that a G/C offsping can be produced. Is this possible. Has anyone done this pairing ? any comments Thanks in advance Trevor.
  14. Hi Mohammid, I think the bird in the photo is a BFBC (Black Face Black Cheek), and its carrying fawn. A true BFBC has black flanks with white spots, yours has fawn flanks with white spots which to me means in its blood line there is fawn. Regards Trevor.

    Timor Zebs

Hi all, I've just aquired 2 pairs of Timors has anyone bred these? any are there any difference between breeding them and standard zebs? They are in cages and i know not to mix em with standard zebs. Is incubation the same, and food when they've got young. Any info would be much appreciated. Regards Trevor.
  16. Good Evening all, I've kept zebs for 30+ years now and always learning about the hobby, i used to show but time is needed to show competively and i don't have enough of this, so i breed zebs as a hobby. But over the last few years i've got into colour breeding which i enjoy 100%, i mostly go for grey cheeks in my shed and this year i've managed to hatch greycheek pieds, crested greycheeks and crested greycheek pieds, as well as greycheeks. Loads of different types in my aviary as well. Anyway enough of me hope i can be of help to someone in the future. Regards Trevor. Ps i've got a question on the grey section if anyone can help.
