  1. Hi Peter,

The only way you can do it is by selective breeding,

Also by making sure that the male or female are a good black colouring,

Any of the zeb's which have chestnut flanks have in my opinion have fawn in their background,

So by omitting these birds you will eventually get BC or any BC combo with black flanks,

It does take time but I think it's worth it,

    Hope this helps,

Any other questions please ask and I will try to help the best I can,

    Trevor  :)

  2. All,

Here is my BFBCBB male colouring up nicely in the aviary from my shed,

Most pleasing thing about this zeb for me is the black flanks,

I'm gradually getting them to black now rather than the fawn colour,

I now he's scruffy but the potential is deffo there,

    Thanks for looking,

    Trevor :)

  3. Nick,

I've got 13 cages to sort out, gave 3 a good clean today,

Still got re-paint front of draws and varnish inside of draws,

    Then those 3 are done,

So basing on that I reckon between Xmas and end of the year,

Only doing the work at weekends,

    Trevor.

  4. All,

Season done for me now starting to re-furb cages for next season in shed,

Looking forward to next season bought in fresh blood so getting confident about it but to much though,

I've posted 3 photo's of my last young in shed,

The LB male is from BFBCLB pied x BBLB

The BB male is from BB/OB x BB/OB so poss he could be split OB (Bonus if so)

The little chap is an early photo but it's from BBOB x BBOB so could be my first ever BBOB (fingers crossed on this one)

When this little'un is another week or so older I will post another photo of it,

    Enjoy !!!!

    Thanks for looking,

    Trevor :)

  5. Hi Chris,

    Personally I wouldn't do that,

I try and stick with either grey grey or fawn fawn,

    With any mutation,

Also introducing fawn does hinder getting black flanks,

A grey hen would be your no.1 target,

    Hope this helps!

All the best with your targets,

    Trevor.

  6. Emmy,

                Well done,

if your pair were only BC and nothing else then it would be 100% BC,

But as other colours are involved there poss will be other mutations depending on how strong their genes are between the pair,

It's basicly done on % over a time, so if you bred these 10 times you would be surprised at the outcome,

    All the best,

    Trevor :)

  7. All,

Here's my new chicks out on Friday pic today,

3x Cream, 1x BB Fawn and 1x Fawn,

    Pleased with these,

Note one of the Creams is a different shade, a bit darker, even with the tail markings,

    Thanks for looking,

    Trevor :)

  8. Richard,

Thanks for posting pic good looking zeb there,

Would be interested in seeing a pic of your Silver OBBB when it comes out please,

Not sure what to pair it off with really, providing I've got a spare cage for the new season,

Prob' a Fawn BB I reckon,

    Trevor :)

  9. Chill,

Good range of zeb's you have there,

    All look good well done,

The answer to your question is yes you will prob' have that DF scenario,

It would be lessoned by the other BB gene, but I still don't think it's a good idea,

If it was me I would put her with a BB,

This should give you 50% BFBB (males and females) & 50% BB (males and females),

Please don't be put off from what I've said, you've got to make your own decision and that's how we learn,

    Hope this has helped you,

All the best with your breeding and thanks for posting pic's,

    Trevor :)

  10. All,

Just had a bit of luck, had a new mutation out of my shed today,

Parents are OB Fawn x Cream hen,

1st brood 1x Cream, this round had 2, 1x Cream and this little chap,

    I think it's a BBLB Fawn,

Note how white it is from under the beak right through to the vent area,

Cheered my season up a bit,

    Trevor :)
