  1. Marke that video was just great. are those the quicko cages you mentioned before to me? Now you are making me jealous how I would love to have a set up like that you're soo sooo lucky to have so many lovely finches. Pity I didnt have electrcity connected up to where I have my greenhouse if I did I think I would have been very tempted to get an aviary up in that area of my garden but at the moment my future problem is where am I going to keep my 10 baby quails when they grow up? (My son has a solution to that but i'm not listening to him -he'll get the eggs but that's all!!)lol ps Guess I have enough cages now to fill a hut. Like you said Marke its so easy to get the 'bug' but those birds you have are just lovely. Emmy
  2. Hi Stefan you'll enjoy this forum. Those photographs you posted are just wonderful. Emmy ps I'll be thinking I'm posting to my grandson his name is Stefan too
  3. Hi Lyoyd Welcome Nice to have another member from Scotland. (I have a friend who lives in Falkirk -nice place.) You breed 'flying ' pigeons! Have you by any chance trained them to visit Fife? If you have dont worry they get fed every day in my garden being serious now they are beautiful birds even the wild ones that come to my garden. What type of Zebra Finches are you thinking of getting? Emmy
  4. Goes to show you shouldnt judge any bird (no matter what species! ) on first appearance. They can eventaully turn out to be a real beauty just like 'Dirt boy' Just hope you are going to give her a new name now Emmy
  5. Just a pity I cant get a close up photograph of her - cant chance opening the door of the cage to get a clear shot I've had enough for this week with birds escaping and flying around the house PS If someone had taken a video of me then I guess I would have got £250 on 'you've been framed' lol Emmy
  6. Thanks Dave I wont be showing the Finches I have. I just like having them and looking after them. She is last years bird and her beak looks as though when its been changing from black to the orange/red colour (when she was young) that patches havent changed colour leaving balck spots on her beak but the odd thing is those black spots are identical on both sides of the beak. She is a real healthy bird I was just curious just in case something was wrong. Emmy
  7. Thanks Paul I really was concerned that there was maybe going wrong with her especially with her beak haveing the black markings onit Emmy
  8. I've just noticed tonight when she was sitting in the nest that my CFW hen has odd markings on her beak. Her beak is an orange/red but it has a black marking on either side on the beak. She also has 2 cheek markings one close to the beak and another one where it should be The other ones I have dont look like this. I tried to get a photograph but she came off the nest and I dont want to upset her just now. Is this normal? Emmy
  9. Definately looks like a 'proud dad' and so he should be with that lovely family. Lovely photograph Emmy
  10. Thanks Gary guess I clicked on that button by mistake Emmy
  11. Lovely chick Paul will the others be out of the nest soon? Emmy
  12. Just thinking the Batchelors shirts in the video would look good on the Finches -zebra type pattern  Emmy
  13. sorted out the problem Emmy

  15. Trevor you're correct (3) the link I posted was a different set of The Batchelors  Gary and Mark Not Elvis!!! Sorry to disappoint you both but the fourth member was Lena Zaveroni here's the proof  This brings back lots of memories now I'm going to go and look out old my old records Emmy
  16. Now you two are giving the game away - you both can remember back to the 1960's  good for you! but Mark I think you'll need to find the fourth member of the group - was he off having a drink at the time just to refresh uyour memory http://www.stanlaundon.com/bachelor.html hope I've got the correct link here. Emmy (what happens when I tick 'like' does it give you a point or ? ps I know what it means on Facebook)

Percy's a real smasher!! Enjoyed watching your other post too with the birds in the cage they look very happy there. Emmy
  21. Sorry you had a disappointment re the Timors Mark. I think at least it the person could have answered your emails. Its only good manners to reply even if the relpy is going to be negative. Emmy

    Black Cheeked

Is this ok because male is light back and the hen a cfw.? So if female was bc/cfw and male was the same bc/cfw is this where a problem would arise? Emmy

    Black Cheeked

I'm interested to find the answer to Sparky's post. Have I got this mixed up 'again'? or have i got it correct? If you pair a black cheek with a black cheek it could perhaps create problems with the young (chance of getting blind chicks)?? Emmy
  24. Why is it not recommendedto pair up a Timor with the other varieties of the zebra finches? (I did get an answer to this from Dave on 'Shout Box' and for the benefit of others who did not manage to get onto 'shoutbox' last night I'm hoping Dave will explain again here on the forum the reason why) (Thanks Dave - in anticipation ) Emmy
