  3. ....just double checked mine and so do i ...unless my calculations are a day late like my other ones, then it's x-mas eve lol polo's last egg is due to hatch on 23rd and wicked (my other hen;s) first egg is due to hatch 25th. will be putting this years rings on them....as i still need to order my new rings, not sure if to get split plastic or just metal rings haha
  4. chick #2 is here not sure if it hatched yesterday or this morning but more likely to have been yesterday AND my other pair have 3 fertile eggs!!! so far out of 6.....first was a dud, second she laid on bottom of the cage and 3rd, 4th and 5th are all fertile she must of had a 3 day break then laid another if her 6th egg is fertile.....it's due to hatch on 31/12/15!!!!! new years eve!!!!
  5. ....defiantly keep that one under lock and key haha i'm hoping to breed a blue series tcb and i'm not sure as i'm staying at my partners for a couple of nights
  6. haha cant wait to see how they all turn out
  7. ^.^ this chick has a strong set of lungs on it never heard a baby budgie squeak as loud as this one second chick starting to pip...think i may have got my dates wrong
  8. *****UPDATE****** Chick number 1 is here wasn't due till tomorrow but ah well have attached pictures
  9. just double checked, he is a dominant pied(single factor), cinnamon (or split) and spangle he bred outside with polo (they currently have eggs again) ended up with: 1 grey cinnamon spangle 2 cobalt/violet spangle 1 pied YF spangle (i think) here are all of them together....their mum is being piled on haha
  10. shes one i bred last year, hatched on 2/1/2015 so shes ready to breed, i have only a small amount of birds inside, the rest are outside in my aviary hopefully building a stock flight in the shed after new year (just before the cold really hits) also do you mean the grey and yellow? i think he is......will double check now, but i know hes a golden face with yellowface
  11. another few pictures of my set up, hoping to get some new storage in the new year, big enough to hold all my budgie supplies and toys, then have some room for my own personal stuff haha, first picture is my 2 breeding cages and my kaks cage, second picture is my ceiling.......i might as well have a pet monkey? haha third picture is my budgie stock cage and my parrot cage (grey one) This is wicked and her partner, they now have 2 fertile eggs and just some random pictures now
  12. i dont mind big pictures haha, makes it easier for me to see them i think you will have to keep it under lock and key haha i would be getting a couple of the long ones (sliding door at back) as i already have 3...which are undergoing mite treatment and the bird seem to prefer the long ones i use wooden breeding boxes outside in the summer. i dont agree with MFD concaves, however with the smaller nest boxes you have to cut a concave to size lol my partner says MDF swells up when wet, and i have had mold grow on MDF concaves do the nest boxes come with ventilation holes drilled in mine have got them drilled in, i think the person i got them off did it i think i will try and use cup hooks to keep the nest boxes on, here is mu setup at the moment....excuse the mess, uni work taken over haha you can faintly see the holes in the nest box these are my smaller ones, the only ones that dont have redmite at the moment lol here are polo and houdini, first egg due to hatch tomorrow but it has already started to pip
  13. the photo worked looks to have yellowface also thats where i am planning to get my cages from, going to go for the 6 as i have enough hooks on my wall for 6 cages i have a budgie that actually live with my kakariki, they get along fine, usually when i let my budgies in my room out for a fly with her, they all end up chasing one another and my kak joins in they are funny to watch i found the seller on ebay how do you attach them onto the cage? i refuse to use wooden ones now....i had a bad run with redmite in the summer, i have had to sell all my wooden breeders and replace with wire.....but i prefer wire now, more room in them for the birds think i'm going to have to come and "borrow" that grey spangle haha
  14. one of the pictures has gone lol they look massive where did you get your cages from? i'm looking for some the exact same...i already have 2, cheapest i have found is £145 for 6 cages attached is a picture of one of my boys, "ripple" and his dad "topaz" with my kakariki, hoping to get them paired up in the new year when i get some more cages and nest boxes haha, looking for some cheap plastic ones this time
  15. yes them photos are massive haha loving the grays i have had that problem too, only it was because the perches weren't stable enough for them....yet my other budgies managed lol some really nice chicks there the light green male looks like one i sold a while ago what does the back of the last pictures chick look like? im going to guess a spangle? i now have 7 fertile eggs! my other pair have a fertile egg fingers crossed for more
  16. Go for it Chris,I don't mind, the more the merrier And thank you I'm dreading this xmas emmy lol going to hand rear 1 or 2
  17. i can now say.......in 3 days my girl polo will be busy, all 6 of her eggs are fertile will upload pictures when the first one hatches
  18. Polo now has 6 eggs.........with 5 showing fertile! i'm going to be busy over x-mas! Wicked (the other hen laying) has laid 1 egg, not showing fertile, and another on the cage floor, sadly it had cracked on the bottom of the cage so had to bin it. saw her and her partner mating on the cage floor....as they kept falling off the perch haha. if she only has 1 or 2 fertile eggs, i will give her polo's youngest chick as they laid an egg on the same day. keeping my fingers crossed
  19. got another pair starting to lay........doubt they will be fertile though Polo has 5 eggs now!! with 4 showing fertile
  20. Hi Steve! me and my dad are just down the road at sunny Blackpool we don't breed for shows, it's more of a hobby (for my dad) I breed budgies myself i enjoy helping my dad out.....mainly the decision making haha hope you get what your looking for
  21. **help needed** has anybody experienced a male bird/budgie not able to mate? I have a perfectly healthy (no missing toes, no in-turned feet, no splayed legs) male budgie who is about 3 now apparently his patents always had fertile eggs and were good breeders, but my boy is clueless! he has never been bred with before apparently. he literally mounts the hen......then he doesn't know what to do....he moves his feet a little....poor hen just sits there with him on her back while he tries to figure out what to do :/ i have his brother(topaz) with the hen at the moment to see if it's the hen's fault...Topaz has bred before (not for me yet) and apparently is a great dad thank you in advance :)
  22. Thank you emmy, she is still laying last clutch she had 5 or 6 eggs so keeping my fingers crossed, they mate every morning and evening lol!! my room is a literal bird room now can't believe it's been over a year since my first babies My birds stay quiet if people are round.........but I can't hear myself think if I'm on my own haha I usually end up closing my curtains and sitting in a dark room to keep them quiet :):) wouldn't change it though...........yet haha
  23. **update** My pair with eggs (polo and houdini) now have 3 eggs and 1 is showing fertile
  24. Finally i find the time to set up the budgie thread again It has been a while.....haha Not long after the finch forum closed down, i had an aviary built it measures approx 8ft wide, 6 1/2 ft deep and about 8ft high (will attach pictures) in the back of one of the pictures, you can see my dads finch aviary it cost me a grand (annoying) total of £600 (including perches and other stuff) overall, since i got the aviary up, i have had 2 clutches outside and about 5 clutches inside (will attach some pictures of the babies too) i have 35 budgies outside and another 8 budgies inside, 1 pair with eggs how are everyone's budgies doing? this cold weather has meant i have has to heat and cover up my aviary, but i am also expecting to lose a couple more birds i will be putting boxes back up in aviary end of February time my guard dog haha
