  1. we only noticed after getting the bird home, and as me and my dad are too scared to touch the beak (scared of hurting the bird) we kept an eye on him and he is eating and drinking fine, he does how cuttle fish and other things he can file his beak down on, we are keeping a close eye on him too
  2. here are some pictures now she is out in the aviary, she is settling in VERY well, tells the males off apart from one BC (one she was in cage with) and she looks happy to be in there Her and the male BC Here are a few pictures of her outside:
  3. here she is will be going into the aviary some time today and here is her friend (hoping they have bonded)
  4. just to keep everyone updated, we got a BC male at auction and have put him with her, they are getting along brilliantly and she is doing very well, next step is to introduce them to another pair we have in a cage at the moment (a female was being picked on so we separated her and give her time to rest and strengthen up, she also has a male in with her now) or we might just let them all out into the aviary think my dad is getting attached to them being in his room lol
  5. ahhh so he is as she i will have to tell my dad she seems to have settled in really well in my dads computer room, she will be going out into the aviary in a couple of days
  6. here are the pictures of the finch, he will be spending a couple of days on his own to get him used to us and then will be let into the aviary. thank you chris for all the supplies, we are very grateful and we will keep you updated im guessing he is a fawn black cheek?
  7. thank you i will try and make sure i go with my dad haha, can't wait to meet the new little one as probably every one knows, i will upload pictures once he/she has settled down
  8. hi chris, just wondering if you and my dad sorted anything out? not had chance to speak to him as he's at work
  9. i would have him/her but i live in blackpool and i dont drive i have a big aviary for my finches all of them get the best treatment, and special treatment when they arrive (they spend a good few days inside, settling down and making sure they are fighting fit) if only you was closer. hope your friend is ok
  10. beautiful birds i am yet to get white's though. i have 4 bengies with my finches, they dont seem to want to breed though, i know i have 2 male 2 female, they love helping the finches out with nesting though
  11. Hi paul, Welcome to the forum! i used to keep zebbies a good few years ago and re-started again may this year, we have an outdoor aviary and also breeding cages (only just started with the cages) and currently in the outside aviary we have 3 chicks and 5 eggs. if i was to cage breed(not breeding cages), i would get a big liberta rainforest, that one is big enough for a few finches, i would recommend 2 pairs in one, here is a link to one: http://www.cagesworld.co.uk/p/Rainforest_Cages_RC_Caracas_Bird_Cage.htm keeping zebbies is fun, enjoyable, has it's up's and down's BUT is educational! you learn all sorts of things from them, if you ever get stuck in a rain-forest, you will know how to build a nest! keeping them you get to know your birds, their likes and dislikes, also their best friends and enemy's everyone on the forum is always happy to help in the best way we can sometimes we do go off topic, but that's just part of the fun! you will never regret getting zebbies
  12. the unknown one is now coloring up, he is a fawn BC and looks after his sister all day
  13. the male in the cage was just in there temporarily he isn't the farther, we don't know who the father is as we bought her with her 2 chicks we know they have BC in them and also fawn, mum looks like just a fawn. the mum has now paired up with one of my pied males
  14. cool me and my dad both agreed that weather it is male or female, he will be a lovely bird and should have some nice offspring when hes old enough
  15. thank you me and my dad keep debating weather or not its a male or female, i guess we will just have to wait for them to fully feather up
  16. Me and my dad recently bought (about 2 week ago) 3 new finches. 1 Fawn Hen and 2 of (we assume) her chicks. the problem we have is one of the chicks has male breast bar.....but no other male markings, mum does have slight male makings (faint flanking? on her belly) and the other chick had none (just BC) (the normal grays in the background were titch and his friend, dad tried to mix them but they didn't get along) Here is a Pic of mum, i know she's a she as she laid an egg in the cage while the chicks matured a bit) Chick 1 (BC hen i think) Chick 2 (i think hen with male markings) And both of the little ones Thank you Sarah~
  17. he used to be, but i have another 2 budgies in my room and recently he just tries to bite me every time i try to go near him, he is still only young so when the 2 other budgies in my room go into breeding cages i will try again
  18. good names! also i have just commented on the other post i tried to make little sequence with the names i go off the personality with my budgies to name them, leave the finches to my dad (saying that i currently have 2 in my room, along with 3 budgies haha) and yes, he is doing brilliant now, bubbles my budgie is lonely still but he will perk up when i get him a lovely hen. heres a picture of titch recently(one next to the window):
  19. He's a stunner, i'm useless with mutations picture worked too
  20. haha i dont name my finches apart from titch, only the budgies i currently have 5 eggs now im writing a diary/blog in the breeding how about Ohh, La, Laa, Black, Pearl, Oyster haha best i could come up with
  21. i'm no good with mutations but I LOVE the BFBC, im going to try and breed one in time
  22. haha, i think you would have to send a thank you complaint to the fake egg producer and only if you have finches and cockatiels together. heres a link to show what can happen: Sorry but this link has been removed, please read the forum rules relating to images of sick or injured birds.. also i misread the article, budgie can live with cockatiels but not around breeding season. though not many people say you should, theres no risk from trying to put all 3 together.....as long as you can separate them. i put mine in cages before i release them. when i get them they go into a cage, the cage is then put into the aviary for about 4-10 hours, then i release them. thats what i have done with my budgies and finches. never put lovebirds in though, all local breeders have told me thats a big no no xD
  23. hi emmy, we got told the same, but people who say that usually never tried it (as we figured out) cockatiels can't be kept with budgies but can be kept with finches. however budgies can be kept with: Quail Canary Finches we don't have any canary yet, and probably wont get any. our budgies, quail and finches are living together perfectly, they all look after each other, the finches preen the budgies and the budgies look like they feed the finches the odd time. i have cages ready just in case something does happen, but so far they look fine, they even sleep next to each other and they dont seem to care
  24. haha thank you emmy. we have an egg! or possibly 3.....pictures on my dads topic "are my zebbies getting ready?" link: http://zebrafinchforum.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/5987-are-my-zebbies-getting-ready/ also i have another budgie:
