    There could be many reasons she died and cold could have been one of them. I don't keep diamond doves so I couldn't tell you how hardy they are. Tubular heaters seem to be pretty popular. I used a fan heater last winter but I haven't heated the bird room this winter, although it is well insulated. The more you insulate the less you need to heat it to keep a nice temperature.

    My zebs usually all go in at night. All food and water is kept inside so they naturally spend a lot of time in there. All the birds spend at least a couple of weeks caged in the shed in quarantine so they get to know the inside first. They are all released into the indoor section of the aviary and have to find their way out. 

    This seems to work for me, I'm sure everyone does it differently though!

    I've got a lovely pair of bc lightbacks in the shed. I don't want them but I don't want Lee to have them, so I'll keep them.
