  1. Hi DaveThanks for the info and the comment, you never stop learning with birds.Paul.
  2. Hi TyShe had 2 Normal cock nest mates but i didn't like them so they have gone, here the results of a Normal cock x CFW hen.50% Normal Females50% Normal/Chestnut flanked white MalesAnd a CFW cock x Normal hen50% Chestnut flanked white Females50% Normal/Chestnut flanked white Malesand a Normal/CFW cock x Normal hen25% Normal Females25% Normal Males25% Chestnut flanked white Females25% Normal/Chestnut flanked white MalesAnd a Normal/CFW cock x CFW hen25% Normal Females25% Normal/Chestnut flanked white Males25% Chestnut flanked white Females25% Chestnut flanked white MalesPhew....Paul.
  3. Hi Nick If i remember rightly i think she was a february bird,i think she need something too put abit more head in.Paul.
  4. Hi MarkThe marks sometimes moult out im no expert on CFW's but im lead to believe you are lucky to breed a hen this clear from a pairing of a Normal/CFW x Normal not sure if this is correct but may someone else with more knowledge of them might correct me if thats untrue.I think its a matter of selective breeding too clear them up of markings i have another hen from another Normal/cfw x Normal pairing and she is younger but very marked.Cheers Andy for your kind comment she's a lovely stead bird too which is a nice trait. That Fawn cock bird was as nervous as he ll in the show cage he looks better in the breeder.Paul.
  5. Hi All What do you think of this hen she is 2011 bred out of a Normal/CFW Fawn x Normal so she's not to badly marked for that pairing.Cheers Paul.
  6. Dilutes are usually different shades just keep trying different pairing and give an nice colour normal a shot.Paul.
  7. Hi Mark You need all the markings in your cocks and hens for showing. If you pair Cream cock x Normal hen25% Normal/Fawn Males25% Fawn Females25% Silver (SF) /Fawn Males25% Cream (SF) FemalesAnd the other wayNormal cock x Cream hen25% Cream (SF) Males25% Normal Females25% Silver (SF) Females25% Normal/Fawn MalesIf you throw lightback in there as well you would get cocks split lightback and lightback hens and you have crossing over being a possibility,so if im right possible cream lightback hens er may be silver lightback hens and fawn lightback hens, but for some of the above you may have more chance of being struck by lighting er twice than actually breeding any.Paul.

    Normal Cock

Hi TyI would steer clear of doubling up on a dominant mutation such as silver, cream, blackface, cheeked as doubling up on them is meant to be a bad idea i have heard this many times but never put it to the test, they use to say that with the blackfaces it lead to dead chicks and deformity's,like i say not sure how true this is but i have heard it from quite a few people over the years,so your best sticking with Normal to silver and fawn to cream or even silver to fawn and cream to normal,i look at it like this you may breed what you think are healthy birds from such a pairing but what are they carrying hidden in their genes from such a breeding.Paul.

    Normal Cock

Hi TyWith the dominant Dilute mutations you would pair to the base colour i.e Cream to Fawn or Silver to Normal unless you were after adding another mutation the the mix like lightback to get a dilute lightback.Split cock birds are useful and you would pair them however is most useful or has the possibility of producing the best results for say type, size or head features so say you had a Normal/fawn cock bird and you wanted to produce more fawns you would pair him to a Fawn hen this would give you. 25% Normal Females25% Normal/Fawn Males25% Fawn Females25% Fawn MalesBut if you paired the same cock to a Normal hen25% Normal Females25% Normal Males25% Fawn Females25% Normal/Fawn MalesYou see now you have no chance of getting any Fawn cocks out of your pair, but alot of it also relies on the type, size, feather and colour of the birds, basicly what you fancy pairing to what to give you what you hope are good results,so say your best cock bird is a Normal/fawn cock and you have two hens for him a Normal and a Fawn you would pair him to the hen which you think would give you what you want unless you want a specific result in colour like above,it all comes down to trial and error, practice and mother nature.Hope this is of usePaul.

    Fawn Chicks 2011

Hi Thanks for the kind comment's,i would say this cock birds is out of balance by this i mean the size of his head is out of porpotion for the size of his body, this is something that is found with a bird with soft fine feather like this cock, but put to the right type of hen with a different type of feather he can produce birds with a good head themselve's.Gary i will try and find oridinal if i havent deleted it yet i do have it on photobucket but at i reduced size i think.Paul.

    Fawn Chicks 2011

Hi allKim your spot on about not getting rid of birds to early as they change so much and this can lead to getting rid of some good birds you may well of kept.Mark the cock is a fawn,he's a feather bird who has a nice body but lacks the size of head to match his body which a lot of these soft feather bird tend to do or so i think and the hen is a harder feathered fawn with a nice head shape and round draw, but as i have said before mother nature has the last say.Paul.
  21. Are good im hoping to be at both of them,so hopefully see you there.Paul.
  22. Hi MarkNice one mark glad to hear of your success,i hope your going to show some may be at stafford later in the year,it would be nice to see more creams about.I know what you mean about the different shades theres plenty of variation in the dilute mutations but there loverly birds.Paul.

    Fawn Chicks 2011

Hi AllJust wondered what you thought of these chicks their only young mind.Paul.
  25. Hi TrevIf it was me i would try either a CFWBC OR A CFW/BC the reason a say this is that if he does throw youngsters like himself you may as well find out sooner rather than later but i would also look at the best type bird out of the above.Paul.
