Hello
I always remove my nests once the chicks have left it for a couple of days this stop the parents from going back down to breed to quickly, the parents will often try to do this and it so times can lead to chick plucking for nest material or hostile behavior towards the chicks in extreme cases, the only reason i would leave a nest box in for longer is if the birds are in an outside flight and the nights are cold.
I have also noticed some pair seeming to pick on a chick for its Colour in the past.

Are you sure the chick have not died in the nest and the body has dried out with the parent bird sitting on them and is now mixed in with the nest material.

Have you checked them for mite?
If you have and there is none it could be something environmental such as the water or food supply contaminated by vermin or something like paint fumes, pesticides or something else in the air.

Hi Jon
It depends if the clock is split for anything else like fawn or lightback.

Hi Jon
You can do that pairing no problem but you may get the odd silver cfw in future matings coming out especially hens.

Hi Andy
The level of light makes a get deal of difference to the finished photos especially when blow up.

Hi
Nice looking chicks, sometimes the Pixelation is due to the light level being to low when the photo is taken as a image is just captured light reflecting off an object.

Hi
You can Breed Creams from Silver's x Fawn and Fawn x Silver pairings, the reason you are able to do this is because Silver and cream are both the Dominant Dilute mutation so the same mutation, the only difference is that one is based in Fawn and the other is Base on Normal.

Hello Ian and welcome to the forum.

Hi
The Cream Colour or more accurately the Dominant Dilute Mutation was more than likely a random Genetic event like other Colour mutations, and too my knowledge could not be recreated by using other Colour mutations.

Hi Gareth and welcome to the forum.
It really depends on the experience you have had with small finches, if you haven't bred them before it might be worth while getting a pair or two of pet shop birds to start with and get use to their breeding pattern and the problem you may encounter, the bigger show type birds can sometime be a little bit harder to breed and i guess if you have had a year with breeding the pet shop bird this will give you some valuable insight, plus you can then use the pet shop birds as emergency feeders if needed for the better birds you get later on.
Bear in mind any pet shop birds brought from the same pet shop could be related.

It sounds like you need to take a bird to an avian vet, it can be very hard to find the cause of such a problem without being there, i've had some one ask me similar last year and theirs bird loses were cause by vermin contaminating the water at night in their aviary.
