  1. Thought I would share some pics of my first chick, I wasn't expecting a bc so I'm guessing the parents must be split? He/she is lovely and quite tame, loves head rubs and happy to be handled :)Thought I was going to lose him at 1 1/2 weeks old as the parents stopped feeding so I hand fed but after 2 days they started feeding again and chick is now fledged and almost 4 weeks old post-3841-0-42111700-1431637757_thumb.jppost-3841-0-54917500-1431637805_thumb.jppost-3841-0-07262800-1431637879_thumb.jppost-3841-0-77837000-1431637948_thumb.jppost-3841-0-79513900-1431638218_thumb.jppost-3841-0-34550000-1431638260_thumb.jp

  2. Update - she is now back to normal think the problem was the other hens picking on her, as soon as I put her back with the others she went back to being puffed up so I have separated them and she is fine, happily building a nest with the cock - well he puts stuff in the nest and she either rearranges it or chucks it back out don't think she appreciates his home decor skills!

  3. Have separated her and got her near a radiator (not up high just warm), couldn't see or feel anything wrong in vent area (didn't poke or prod just gently ran my finger over and parted the feathers) but no idea about age or if she could have been with a male before I got her as only got her on Friday think its quite young though. She seems to have perked up a bit now, how long should I keep her separate? And why no green food? Wont give her any, just wondered what the reason is. Have converted the bath to a temporary nest for her so the others will just have do without a bath for now! Shes got water, a millet spray, seed and egg food, is that ok? Now I'm worrying every time the others stay still for more than a second, think I getting paranoid :(

  4. Came home from work to find one of my hens very puffed up and hunched, she is still eating and drinking but not moving about much, I cant see anything physically wrong and the other 3 are fine but she is definitely not looking good :( Been reading the posts on here and going to try and make a cage of sorts to separate her and put it somewhere warm. Is it better to keep her with a light on so she is eating etc or dark to rest? And other than honey in the water and eggfood is there anything I can give her that isn't 'bird specific' as such because the only place still open is Tesco.

Any advice/ ideas much appreciated and thanks in advance
