How's things going with all your chick Emmy?
-
Just been in to feed and water the birds, checked on all the birds and nests, Alls well today the 2 chicks are starting to grow and looking well the last egg (to me) I don't think will hatch but I,ll leave it in for a couple of more days.
-
In the box with the chicks 1 !
In other boxes there are a mix of 3,4,5 so fingers crossed I get a few more chicks.
How's things with you and the slugs any joy yet?
-
Great morning I have just checked on the nest and I now have 2 zebra finch CHICKS in the nest yippppppppy.

Yes prob the best way to go given the choice haha
-
The beer is a good one (for me anyway) not sure if it wood go well with your birds they might have ago if they can get near it.
There's not a lot of things that like slugs and I don't blame them yuck!
-
Wow you should in the C.I.D haha
You,l have to have a good look round and try,n get rid of them slugs if possible put slug pellets round the outside of the flight, an old wive saying is to put egg shells down that also stops them but your birds might start eating the them haha I believe the slugs won't go over egg shells.
-
True, not very nice, as I say the hen looked fine so not sure what,s happened there.
I have spent sometime in the flight today just checking on the birds and their all ok so hopefully it was a one off.
-
Morning all went into the flight before and found 1 of my hens dead the bird looked find not showing signs of any illness over the last week so not sure what's gone on there. This hen was not on eggs so that's a worry out of the way. Bit of a sad start to the day.
Hope you and your birds are fine.

Wow Emmy you have a lot going on with the different birds you have, it's great that you have the back up of the egg incubator that seem to take a lot of the work off you until they hatch then you,l have your hands full haha.
Sorry to hear about the canaries and the chick and eggs hopefully the last egg will hatch out for you. Keep up the great work with your birds. Not a lot we can do about the weather, it's been hot here over the last few days which is great to have some sun, birds are loving their baths.
-
Really good text Emmy, it's good to see the photos and how people and their birds are doing. Fingers crossed all goes well with these birds.

My finches are doing well I now have 10 nest boxes with eggs in, from a nest box with 1 egg in to a few nest boxes with 5 eggs in all going well so far fingers crossed there should be chicks in a couple of weeks.
-
I was always told that they make good stand in parents and they with feed fostered chick bringing them up as their own, so hopefully all will go very well with yours.

Things are really looking good for them little chicks and by the sounds of things your going to be very busy with all the other eggs hatching out its great to see them hatching and then growing and waiting for their colours to come through I always find that part exciting just in case you get a really nice looking bird.
Hope all keeps well for the chicks and the eggs that are ready to hatch out keep the up dates coming its good to read about their progress.
Good luck Emmy.

Things are looking good well done, as you said just keep an eye on them and fingers crossed the bengalese do a great job. Keep us up dated and them photos coming in too it's great to see how your birds are doing.

Well done 1st of all to you for the incubation of the eggs and them hatching out.
I think the Bengalese will feed the chicks the only worry I have at the moment is they have started to lay, so now they will lay 4 or 5 eggs so what will you do with them will you move them to the incubator as you will have a nest full of eggs and chicks.
I'm not telling you what to do but if it was me I would keep a check to see if the chicks are getting fed and doing well by the time the last egg is laid if all is well with the chicks I would move the eggs.
Hope this helps a little.

Hi Emmy, sorry for the late reply, it's hard to keep up with all these topics haha.
I have black breast black cheek cock breeding with a white hen
White cock with white hen
Fawn hen with black cheek black breast
I will need to study the others to get the colours right haha.
I have just left them to pick themselves in the flight to see if they breed well and to see if they hatch out coz it's my first time with zebras.
Are you looking to get the other canaries off that other breeder ?
Cheers,
Tony
