  2. Hello!

I'll ask my question here, although it may not be the right one for this subject, but i thaught maybe I ask it here rather than opening a new topic. It is about 'overfilled' crops.

Can somebody please look at this picture and say if it is normal that parents are feeding their chicks with the whole seed and that they put so many seed in their crops? It looked strange to me, so I searched the internet and I found that's normal, but then I found some pages that are talking about some gross illness... So, I'm not sure anymore...

    Thank you for reply! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=917060391639190&set=a.914828738529022.1073741840.100000057143676&type=3&theater

(I hope I'm not violating any Forum rule by putting link on my facebook page)

looks like just well fed chicks no problems there

  3. I don't know what it is or what it is for however I would never give more than the stated dose of any medication

would you get medicine off a doctor and take 4 times the dose?

very small birds are easy to overdose

  4. foster the eggs out after they have laid

some pairs do this occasionally not sure what happens i think some hens sit very tight and sweat eggs stick to the bird and leave the box with egg stuck to bird

  5. As Paul says

you would need some bigger birds first you would be very highly unlikely to breed large birds from two small birds

pair your best birds together best cock to best hen 2nd best to 2nd best ect...

then by selecting only the best birds and releasing others in your stud after a couple of years you should start to see a uniformity in your birds

by pairing your best birds to lesser birds you will dilute the quality

i would add by choosing penguins you have chosen a colour that tends to be smaller than others so judge them against other penguins although they have improved a bit over last few years

  6. I have heard off a couple of  other breeders that they find some of there multi combo birds to be less robust than some of their other birds, i myself have no experience of these mutations so cannot comment but could it be due to close breeding to produce these birds over a few generations it may just be young birds early in season and numbers pick up later
