Yes if your trying to breed nice coloured normals, normal x normal and keep your normal line as pure as possible
you can dip into these to help improve other colours

Adam i would think twice about releasing so many of your normals they are very usefull birds to have around and a good quality normal hen is about the most usefull outcross you could have, might be worth keeping a couple more than you intend to use to keep in reserve
been trying very hard to fetch a really good normal hen in for a couple of years and they are like rocking horse poo
besides that they are a stunning bird

Would depend on the timings really,if a short period between the two cocks mating with her then yes
Some breeds of birds the hen can mate with several partners and then choose which ones sperm fertilizes her eggs ,dont ask me how !

Hi Tremuth
We have a problem over here with badly cock marked penguins even hens have markings
You are quite correct in what makes a good penguin

I thought as much after you said the seller advised you to get two pairs so they traveled better !
he is full of tricks like this
They have a very poor reputation and no way should they have charged you anther fiver for the box
they have at least got to you in reasonable state more than can be said of others who have had birds off them
another forum has several threads on people who have had trouble with them
good luck with them they are an attractive lively bird they look great in a mixed collection

Did you get them from Palmers by any chance?

cheers mate
i have a pair there with 2 chicks about ready to take away from parents and they look about as good as anything i have bred for their age
hoping now to get plenty of fertile eggs off them as i think they are worth trying to get a few off

Jimmy still has zebras and he was a judge for many years he still puts together the s@nczfs year books ect
i keep mostly fawns cfw and normals there are a lot more colours and combinations than when you last had them and you need to be careful any birds you bring in are not masking other colours as some of these colours are recesive
what colours you looking to keep?
