  1. Hi. Think we may try once more tomorrow and shut the door as soon as they come out just leaving their water bowl out for them so the can drink in the day but not eat anything. If not then they will have to stay in all the time.

    Thanks for the advise

  3. Hello. I have two beautiful Zenra Finches who wont go back in the cage. They come out every day for what started as 4/5 hours flying around the bedroom. We would shut the door an hour before we wanted them to go bk in and they would.

Now they are out for 10 hours and still wont go back in. We shut the door so they cant get food or water but it doesnt work anymore!!

Tonight i have had to chase them to tire them out so i could catch them, which i haye doing but they just wont go in.

Well I can only suggest what worked for me when I couldn't get all the Zebs to go in from outdoor flight when it was time to close everything up for night.

I shut the bob hole (door) about 2 hours before so that they couldn't just pop in for seed or water. When I made a big show of opening the bob hole- Whoosh!!.

There were times when I still had to catch up a bird or two but I'm talking 20-30 birds so not a bad result.

We learnt that trick with the indoor canaries.

    Might be worth a try.

  6. Hi. What is the best way of getting my finches back in the cage?  They come out every day for at least five hours and love it. To begin with you could say " washy time" and five minutes later they would be back in. Now one will go in and one stays out or if they are both in they fly out wjen you open the door. Sometimes they have been out for eight hours and they still wont go back in.

The past few days we have had to chase them in but i dont want to scare them.

They go in and out for food and water but not at the same time.

    Can anyone help??

  7. Can anyone advise on what could be causing diarrhea.

My husband found him in the canal nearly dead and we were told last week its probably a chill and will go in a few days - its been 10 days now. He is very active, talking all the time, eats and drinks but has a dirty back end.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  8. Hi. Well I have a zebra finch by accident.

My husband was walking a canal path and saw a bird floating that he thought was dead then it moved. So he lay down and scooped it out. Wrapped it in his tee shirt to dry it and took it to the vets. The vet said it was fine and what bird it was. My husband then went into the pet shop next door and spent £70 on a cage and food etc.

So we have a beautiful Zebra Finch who now has a friend.
