Its rings are not tight and its both feet not just one , its uncomfortable looking on the perch so it must be in a bit of pain .

I have a 2012 fawn cock with swollen feet has anyone any ideas what has caused this ? im treating it with friars balm .
-
I dont think vaseline will be much good as it must be something from within because she has past it onto her youngster
-
1 of its 2 young definitely has same bald patch on same side of face as she
-
She was a young bird when I got her an had not been bred
before
-
I got her last year and she was like this , i,m not 100% sure the young 1 has it , it just looks to have someting going on on its face as its not fledged yet and i don,t like messing to much when in nest .
-
No nothing else , feathers just dont grow on this patch .

I agree Allan nothing worse than going to a show and seeing someone showing their birds in a dirty cage there is no excuse
-
Adam , Beatties sell them and if none in stock im sure they can get you whatever kind you want .

Dave you maybe onto something there about the liquid calcium as this is the 1st year ive used it and i spoke to my friend who breeds gouldians and he said he used it in 2011 and had poor breeding results and never used it in 2012 and had to split his birds early in season as he had bred to many . I think i will just stick to the cuttlefish bone .
-
Kerry if i were you i would let the birds breed now if they are ready because if you wait till your ready they may not be and you may end up with no young .

I use Murphys mineral and my birds go mad for it , i use oyster shell grit on its own but like you i used to mix it with charcoal then read in cage an aviary that charcoal was not at all good for the birds as it soaked up all the good vitimins and minerals in the birds and when the bird pooed all the good things were washed out leaving the bird worse off than before it was givin anything good .

Ryan and Paul i think you could be on the right lines as ive had this before but not just as bad and they usually get better next round or even 3rd round im not to bothered at the minute as season only starting and like Paul says they can take to not feeding or throwing chicks out which is much worse as there is nothing worse than going out in the morning only to find dead chicks on the cage floor .
-
If he chick is starting to feed on its own i would move it as the parents wil strip it bare to use the feathers to line the new nest , the bengalese will not harm your zebra chick in anyway ive seen bengalese feed begging young that have nothing to do with them so move zebra before it does come to harm

Pete most had been housed singly from show season but past few months have been in flight cages as my show season over here was over 1st week in october . Hopefully now they will go much better in their 2nd round , well the truth is it could not be much worse .
