Take out the cock bird. The hen should feed the young on her own.

I use Cede.A bit expensive but all my birds love it and have had good results using it.A friend uses Emp and put peas in it to encourage them to eat it.

Hi emmy. There is a large flock of goldfinches near me that have stripped a barn of morter.every year it is repointed and every year the goldies strip it again. In my flight i always have a brick with morter on it.All the birds love it despite the grit and cuttlefish available.

Hi James.I`d say she was building a nest again.I would put nesting material in there cage. This has happened to me a few times so always keep nesting material in cage. When you wean the youngsters i would give the youngsters nesting material as well,to stop them feather plucking.

Hi.I would take it to your local vet.I have a friend who is good at fixing broken legs with his canaries. There is always hope.My local vet fixed a disslocated leg on one of my young zebras only last week.

I am building an out door aviary.I am double wiring as we have sparrow hawks on a regular basis.I would also concrete or slab the floor as rats will find a way in and wipe your birds out.I know this to my cost unfortunately.

I bought some wire cages with grill floor from rob harvey. There a good size with a large front door so nest box can go inside the cage.I have used 2 so far and the 2 pairs have settled well with 1 pair nesting straight away. They were a little unsure of grill floor to start with but are not to bothered by it now.

Hi John.I was thinking of all wire cages as well. Not to keen on grill floors but i have 4 wire cages so might experiment this year.Lots of canary breeders use them.I have used them as stock cages before and found that seed goes everywhere.

I have 8 pairs breeding at the moment and 4 pairs refuse to use nest box and only nest on the floor.
