  1. Hi Jon

My new cages are all 15" deep. I have in the past had cages that are 18" and 10" deep and have bred birds in both quite happily. The 10" deep cages had the nest boxes on the outside, with both the 15" and 18" cages the nest boxes were inside.

  2. New birdroom and cages arriving tomorrow, then got to sort electrics, paint the cages then I'll be able to pair the birds up. Guess it will be a bit later this year - around the end of the year.

  3. Hi Ray

I feed pinkies in with the softfood and the birds love them. They are frozen and i get them from priors pets, the brand name is topinsect you can search them out on the internet). I just take a few out the night before let them defrost and add them to the softfood in the morning. Waxbill and foreign finch breeders use them as an alternative to live mealworms.

  4. Hi Dean That's one of the problems with the penguins, you can quite easily put the size into the penguins but the difficulty is keeping the colour as they should be and keeping them clean with no chest markings on the cock birds. Good luck with them. I see you are also after crested bengalese - there is a pet shop by me how has some for sale think they are £10ea, i can find the phone number out if you want it Ben
