thats okay chris i only noticed something was wrong with the hen because she was useing a canary nest pan that fits on the outside of the cage and they have slits in so i could see something was wrong,any way i still get excited when i see any eggs and when the chicks hatch and i have been keeping birds nearly 50 yrs i have had 2 more hatch this morning happy days

i check my nests every day the birds don't mind,i do it because i found a hen bengalese dead in the nest so i like to check them,also to make sure the chicks are okay

i have both types together at the moment and they have bred but the chicks are more pet type than exibition size,so as soon as my canaries have finished breeding i shall split them up

thank you richard i am very happy with them,its not going to bad i have cut down on my cage breeding i now give my pairs a double breeding cage now instead of singles it makes it more enjoyable, i don't set my self targets as such with my canaries i am happy if i end up with about 4 chicks to a pair over 2 rounds each i only have 4 pairs,i had a disappointment this morning i found 2 canary chicks dead they were just starting to colour up nicely.

hi i had it happen with a pair of bengalese and the cock bird reared them just fine

not bad 11 bc's,fledged,2 penquins fledged and 4 about 7-10 days old parents are bc ck bird and penquin hen i cannot wait until they leave the nest

i did the same thing on saturday i took them out of their breeding cage and put them in another cage in my other aviary i put their nest box on the cage and they back sitting on the eggs
