  1. Thanks,

The bird in question is almost identical to the sketch only with light brown cheeks so i assume from what you say it's a fawn cheeked hen, hence the eggs. I'll pair her up this season ( as she's a nice size ) with one of my grey cocks and see what happens. What is a fawn cheeked cock like ??? i'm assuming very similar to a cfw.

    Thanks again.

  2. Hi,

I have breed this season what i thought to be a cockbird but this morning on cleaning the cages i've found two egggs, all the other birds are defo cocks. The bird in question is almost identical to the one on the forums home page apart from the cheek patches are more fawn than grey, because of the cheek patches i assumed it was a cockbird. Can you please help me identify this bird. I have now moved it in with the hens.

    Cheers

    Wayne

  3. Hi all,

Has anyone tried diatomaceous earth as from what i read it has one hundred and one uses when treating nasties external and internal, can be used in bathing water, mixed with food and around the cage and nest boxes. Any feedback would be good before i go and bye some.

  4. Hi All, i'm after some advise on getting some decent size into Black-cheeked zebs, i've got some good size grey's cock's and hens but my Black-cheeks are only normal size and not really suitable to show, what would be the best pairings to get some decent size birds ? can this be achieved in one season ?

  5. Cheers Pete,I couldn't have asked for a more in depth answer, things do appear a lot clearer now, i think my priority now is to get some really decent birds and then start from scratch and hopefully in a couple of seasons be on my way to a reasonable stud to start showing with. So thanks again and if there's anything i'm not sure about i will not hesitate to ask. Thanks Wayne

  6. Just reading on the ZFS website about pair selection and i'm slightly confused, it states that hens shouldn't carry any of the cocks markings but i thought that black-cheeked hens carry the cheek patch, can anyone clarify this ???Wayne

  7. Hi All,I see a lot of you guys/gals have already started to breed and have young either in the nest or already on the sticks, has this been achieved by using heat in your birdrooms ? or am i being a bit to cautious in not letting my birds start now without heat. I do live in the south so would assume it warmer down here.Wayne
