This is a good forum and you get plenty of advice.  Try looking at the Zebra Finch Society website at www.zebrafinchsociety.co.uk where you will find plenty of information, you can even join the Society and receive even more advice!!

Hi Frank,

I think you will find overall there is more advice given on this site than on zfs site,

On here you will find info from buying your first zeb right through genetics and into showing, assembling aviaries and shed set ups,

Which is a great range of info,

zfs is good for showing your zebs, which members give good info on the subject of showing which the zfs specialises in,

Helping the younger generation getting on the bench, plus info on your local breeders,

As this is your first post I think you should know that your post should be in the General Discussion section (sorry),

Keep posting,

All the best Frank,

Trevor :)

One thing I feel this forum has that puts it on top of all the others out there on the wide web, is what Trevor has said

Helping the younger generation getting on the bench

Any YOUNG person starting up, be they 16 years old or younger are never treated like 'babies /children' and are given every encouragement  to keep their interest alive.  In turn they  give us older members lots of tips they find working from trial and error.

How is your indoor flight coming along Charlton?  I'm still searching for a suitable material for the roof of my outdoor flight :(

Had a quote form one firm material was going to cost approx. £50  now wait for this!!!! delivery charges  - over £300 yes! three hundred I didn't make a mistake there is two  zeros after the three. :shok:

Well Trevor, here's me thinking this is a friendly forum!!  It may well have been my first post on THIS forum, however I think this was the correct category as I was informing the two new members above of where they can find information as well as on this sight.  We should all be on the same "wavelength" as far as birdkeeping is concerned no matter where you look for information.  The ZFS website has loads of information (not just for the showing fraternity),as does this forum.

Hi Frank,

Knowing Trevor as I do, I don't think he was trying to have a pop at you. I think he was just trying to point out the differences between both sites.

We are all friends on here and for me both sites have their individual merits.

Keep the peace :db:

Gary.

I was beginning to think that myself

I've sent them an email to find out if they have made a mistake with the delivery charges

You said you are using Perspex on the roof of the outside flight - is that the same as polycarbonate roofing?. I looked at 4mm polycarbonate  but was advised to buy 10mm  for the roof.  The panels I need would have to be 3ft wide by 8ft long.
