It would be nice if they were all hens, but I don't think I'll be that lucky It's nice to get this pair going after 4 months of trying, sometimes you just have to be persistent with some birds. Both birds had never been paired before with the hen being one year older than the cock. Now they have realised what they need to do I'm sure they'll do the business again. Gary.

Hi Emmy, I'm really sorry to hear about your hen passing away so suddenly, the stresses of rearing youngsters can sometimes cause these types of deaths in birds. It's happened to me on more than one occasion, one minute they are hopping from perch to perch the next they are gone. The possible cause could have been a heart attack, but you will never know without further investigation. I hope things have improved this morning and the other parent has started to feed the chicks. welcome to the forum Birdfan13, as Paul has said your young chick sounds like it is a CFW, you can tell the females form the males at a very early age as the females have dark feather on their heads.
