  5. Not too bad, think I have about 20/25 rung with 2012, had a few late bred ones so its more like 40, will try pairing up less this year have about 5 pairs down at the moment.Good Luck

  8. I'm no expert either just writing what I have experienced
  9. Hi Alex,I bred eumos last year that flew perfectly in an aviary, these were bred from both full x split and split x split. Lots of people seem to say that eumos bred from split x split fly better but its not true. Another thing I have read before is that the more black an eumo is, the worse they are at flying, this is not true either. I have bred very black eumos which fly just as well as poorer coloured birds.Good luckPete
  10. Pastel is the same as silver, the cock is a silver lightback blackface
  11. If you give colour equal importance to size and type you will never get a big typy bird. But if you select for size and type, when your birds are big and typy some of the blackcheeks will be better coloured than others then would be the time to select for colour. I think type is by far the hardest thing to get right, breeding poor typed well coloured birds i think would be far easier than good typed poor coloured birds.
  12. If your breeding blackcheeks for showing, flank colouring would be the last thing I would worry about. Type, size, head quality would be the most important then you can afford to be picky about colour faults when they are upto standard of the winning birds.

Cheers Dave, your right though she didnt feed properly and couldnt fly that well. But just thought the head quality was probably one of the best I had bred so wanted to take a few pics to see if the potential brothers or sisters turn out as good.

Its off son x mother pairing, only chick off 2 rounds, will try 2 more rounds and if that doesnt work it wasnt meant to be. I was 90% sure it wasnt going to survive, thats the only reason I took photos of it, it never looked quite right.

Hi Trevor, the hen I have is very White on the stomach with the odd light grey feather on the wings and flanks. Not easy to tell what it is unless you know the parents or breed with it.

Thanks Scott, Lightback Cheek in the same way as you get Grey Cheek and Fawn Cheek. So If you paired a Lightback cock to a Grey Cheek hen you would breed a number of Lightback Cheek hens.Yeh, you would only breed CFW cheek hens from that pairing,Pete

Thanks Trevor, first year I have bred them, parents were CFW cock x LB Cheeked hen.
