Hi all,
I was wondering how often you give them the drops in the water, since using this they have been getting through the water alot quicker. Can you give them to much of it?

Kerry,
I had a few pairs of firetails a few years back there lovely birds they weren't that flighty once they were settled. It all depends what you want to do with her, it would be interesting to see what she chucks out if she can that is. If she can't lay fertile eggs then put her in the flight anyhow this way you know your not going to get any funny looking chicks out.
Has the pink still stayed on her tail? I think you will always wonder what if she had a round of eggs amd they were fertile.

Hi kerry,
It would be nice to see what the out come would be of young if any. If it was me I would just keep it in the flight as a pet or spare, people have there own opinion on this, its like a goldfinch mule people go out there way to breed these just for the song and colour. The price of these vary from £30 up to £150 possible more. What kind of price do you put, if you was to sell on a diamond firetail x zebra finch?
You could call it a 'diamond zebra' or a 'firetail zebra'
What type of song does he/she have?
Cheers,
Chris

Hi all,
Thank you for your comments. Colly its got to be the lady, her flight and set up is real nice.
I have done the research on the birds, the two black cheek;
Parents:
Bc female x bb male = 2x bc split bb males. This is the easy one.
The two bf females:
Grandparents,
Tripple black male x ???? Unsure on this.
Which they produce a bb split bc male.
So, bb split bc male x bf female= 2 bf split bb bc females
Hope you can make sense of this it took some working out for me.
Now ill pair when old enough;
Bc, split bb male x bf split, bb, bc female.
What will the out come of this be?
Cheers all.

Hi trevor,
I wish I did have a magic hat, I try a few winning lotto tickets :-D
There from 2 different nests mate the two black cheeks are from one and the two females are from another.
I didn't get chance to see the females mate, but what I did see was a tripple black male with a bf bb female, I did ask the about this as it been a dominant gene and she said they have bred 6 healthy chicks which confused me as I thought the bf x bf was a big no.
Other than that im very happy with the birds always worth the ride out. Im looking forward to see what the females chuck out I may pair the males up to the females if they are all split for bc and bb with the females been bf show have some nice colours out.
What would be the out come of this be;
Bc split bb male x bf split bc bb female?
Chris.

Morning all,
Just got back from derby picked up these 4. Two black cheek males and two blackface female.
I would say that the males are split for bb to as I seen the father. The one female have put the extra pictures up came from a tripple black male or eumo. Well thats what he looked like.
Your thoughts of these, not sure on the female.
Thanks all,
Chris

Hi all
I have started to close things down in the large flight for next year. I have two pairs left in there at the moment and both have 2 chicks each, but the parents have started nesting again already even though there aren't any nest boxes up. I only have a few pairs down on eggs in the breeder but once they have came out thats it for me this year. Bit of work to do on the cages and start getting the birds in condition. I may fire everything back up the start of January.

Hi kerry,
Sorry to hear about your bird, it is a shame when breeders dont let on especially when you find something that is a little different to every think else.
May be a daft question but could it have been feed on colour feed like what they use for the canarys?

Hi claire,
Im really unsure with him to be honest, he was brought from a pet shop so i dont no the history behind him, ill probably only find out when I breed him which is going to be my next problem what to put him with.
Chris.

Not to sure dan, i do have light back bc and there's a big difference in colour.
Chris.

Cheers for that allan, thought I would give it a try.

Thank you saltrock, the females is a fawn bc split for bb still a little stuck on the male he looks very grey in colour, especially when he sits next to a white zebra finch.
Can anyone else see anymore in him with the pics above.

Hi andy,
Cheers for that mate. I have found out why its going so quick I dont think they like it, all the easy bed stuff was soaking so my guess is they are chucking it out, never mind I have put them back on normal water now. Ill try them again the weekend but dilute the mix a bit more.
