hi palum if that's you opinion then that's your then fine but the hen in question as just produce 2 chicks with which are dilutes so she must be a cream.i also notice that the male on the bottom is a similar colour to the hen so if that the case hes not a dilute then richard

hi baz I was told 100% that the fawn male is pure but not the cheeked hen that's whats thrown me as the other 2 rounds from that pairing produced what I was wanting just the 3rd and last round that didn't.but like you say zebs can thrown anything out so maybe down the line there could be a hidden gene that even my friend don't no about because all he as is fawns in his shed and its just my luck these to genes have met. richard

hi trevor I didn't have any spare grey males but because I knew fawn was a sex link I knew I would get some fawn cheeked hens and normal split males just like fawn x normal pairings .out of the pair in question I did breed normal and grey checked males and fawn and fawn cheeked females but on there 3rd and last round these 2 popped out which throw me a bit as I knew 100% that the male wasn't split for any colour as I know the breeder very well.the males will be split for fawn aswell so was thinking of pairing back to fawns what do you think about that idea.the grey cheeked hen was from you trevor , richard

hi emmy my first thought was a pied but as far as I no I don't have any pied gene in my birds as I no the fawn male came from a stud that are only fawns and greys,unless its been a hidden factor.thanks for the reply. richard

these 2 males came from the same nest and I have been waiting to see how they would turn out after the moult as the parents are fawn male x grey cheeked female. so if any one have any ideas what they could be would be a great help thanks Richard

hi guys baffald by some comments as the picture of the hen is deffo a cream and not a fawn and was bought of peter cannan with a male.maybe there was not enough light when I took the pic and as you no creams can come in various shade. .emmy creams have to be paired with fawns as they are dominant richard

hi clare thanks for post she's being paired with one of my exhibition fawn males that I have. ive also got a cream male that I am going to pair up later. the hen as three chicks at the moment.first time I have owned creams.the chicks are really strange as one chick is like dad and the other two are really light coloured so don't no if there creams or not will have to see how they turn out richard

just thought I would share this cream hen I pick up in October for breeding with in 2014 and see what you think of here thanks for any reply's Richard

hi Kerry if you breed her with a zebra finch as intended then the chicks in theory should turn out looking more like zebs as there would be 3/4 zeb and only 1/4 diamond sparrow but only trying will you find out. maybe worth a try richard

hi Kerry sorry to hear about the bird but it does look like a diamond sparrow (firetailed) but sometimes hybrids can be fertile so maybe you might get chicks out of this hen so you will have to wait and see and then see what chicks pop out. its a shame when breeders sell you birds that is'nt a true breed richard

hi emmy its so funny that so many people in a family share birthdays, when we put the cards up I tell visitors there all mine until they look at them and see some of them are to my daughter lol.and yes Kerry I had a great day out at Stafford should have gone there long before now lol defo going again richard

thanks guys had a great day at Stafford got some nice birds and some bargain plastic nest boxes for a £1 then went out for a meal with family as it was my middle daughters 21st birthday as well yesterday richard

thanks guys can I show these birds as they don't have zfs rings on but they do have closed rings on then from ac hughes. im going the join zfs at Stafford and buy some rings for next year richard

hi all I bred these 2 normal cocks this year and got 2 more the same that iv kept for next years breeding and I was just wondering what you think of them and how much more improving theres needs to be done to them for exhibition size ,and am I going in the right direction with them? thanks for any feed back Richard
