  1. Its great your doing that for them kids, they'll be over the moon on christmas. In regards to the finches if they could talk they'd be like the seagulls in finding nemo "mine, mine, mine" Stephen
  2. Steves i asked the very same question a year ago and if i can remember theres silver involved not white. Stephen

  5. Heres the chick. Excuse the poop on my hand
  6. Thats what i taught but she dosent look like a split as the tear markings dont fade into the cheeks.
  7. Checked the two chicks the oldest one has black cheeks, his father is ng bc and mother is cfw. The second chick is a transfer and its father is ng and mother is cfw/bc. Ill upload pic later
  8. I agree with kareem as BB usually have black feathers with while feathers partially covering the black. Stephen
  9. I was nervous my first time doing it but theres not much to it really. Like cutting your own nails as emmy said.
  10. The male bc she was with looks to have an overgrown beak. Might wanna trim it and check the others too if you havnt already.
  11. Thanks trevor. Are they hens?
  12. Heres a Picture of the Cfw and the bird I posted about. The Cfw is the bird on the right.
  13. Its pure white with tear drop. The beak is red and the legs are orange.
  14. I bought it in a petshop. It was in a cage with bc male and bc female. I bought the male, theres also more whites (no tear drops) and two whites with tear drops so the manager told me to pick the whiter one as the other was dirtyish looking. Its tail markings look more visable than my cfw's.
  15. At first it looked like a hen, no breast, cheek markings etc. only lately I noticed it has an almost fully red beak. Ill upload pics later of this bird and my hen cfw.

    Puzzled?

So many hidden mutations that one can only know about by breeding. Thank you James you have certainly made it clearer to me.

    Puzzled?

Ive bred my fawn pied with normal grey black breast and the outcome was fawn pied female (light fawn in colour) grey pied female and a normal male. Fawn is a sex link mutation so that female shouldnt be fawn. as if that wasn't already puzzling that fawn female is paired with a normal grey black cheek whose 3 out of 4 eggs hatched and one appears to be a fawn( brownish beak, lighter skin tone) hopefully it turns out to be a male. Any idea on why the fawn pied is a female not a male when the mother was fawn?
  20. black cheeks tear markings cant be seen as its all black but I'm not sure about the grey cheeks as I currently don't have any so maybe other members may know.
  21. Heres a picture of what a BB tail looks like and Im not sure if you can see it but it has a tear marking.
  22. There's 11 birds so far with Three more pairs still to go before breedings over for another year. Pair one is Black Cheek male X Grey pied female who laid one egg this morning Pair two is Normal and fawn pied who is still currently completing the nest Pair three is BB male and Fawn Pied who is sitting on 4 eggs due to hatch in a few days time.
  23. It depends on what for because I've bred a bb split male with a cfw and gotten three bb chicks.
  24. That bird has the hourglass markings so its split for black breast. Stephen
