  1. Emmy, That's brill ! I wish you all the luck and hope it works, All the best, Trevor. Ps be in contact over weekend
  2. Emmy, The best way to look at this is :- An OB is a recessive mutation, which means to reproduce a recessive colour both parents have to show that particular colour, Or both birds to be split for this colour or one is visual and the other split, (with me so far) ? If one parent is visual and the other is not split the young will only be splits, If one parent is split and the other is not a less % of young than above will be split, With both being visual it's a far greater % than one visual and one split which this has a greater % than both parents split, After the tenth time of reading this Emmy it'll probably make sense lol Trevor.
  3. Aspen, I would guess at a Grey Isabel Hen, Deffo not LB due to tail markings, Could do with second opinion with this one as not 100%, Trevor.
  4. Scott, Spot on mate, Well worked out, Trevor.
  5. All, Got a pair of OBBB they have 3 young, One's out and the other two out any day, What a surprise ! I'll leave you to make your own oppinions, Trevor.
  6. Chris, If you use selective breeding try and use BC grey males with black flanks rather than the chestnut colouring. It means they are a stronger black gene, Hope this helps, Trevor
  7. Emmy, Sorry to hear about Billie, please don't blame yourself Emmy, knowing you like I do I'm 110% sure you would do everything possible. Take care Emmy, Trevor.
  8. Emmy, There are two sides with Zebs the grey side and fawn side, Whatever mutation you think of it will fit one or the other, With BC it's a strong type and as Scott rightly says, to be correct it should have black flanks, If it has chestnut coloured flanks he more than likely to be split fawn as this has interrupted the black, For some reason fawn disrupts the black quite a bit ie BC Fawn (cheek patch) BF Fawn (Lores) and BB Fawn (breast bar) they all look diluted, On the grey side BC is the only single combo that has black flanks, So when you mix greys in either BB or BF with BC there is a stronger black gene to overcome the fawn, I hope this helps, Trevor
  9. Craig, If it were me I would put the BF Grey with her, Trevor
  10. Emmy, Can't make out what happened there, the other ones ok though, Trevor.
  11. Emmy, I know, wouldn't change it for anything, Trevor
  12. All here at last is the final part. All wired up and paired up. Only 2 out of the 13 cages didn't work but everything now working fine, I'm really pleased with finished item, being honest better than I anticipated. I know it's only a short time but I've noticed a difference in the birds they seem more alert, if that the right word. Pic at top is of the timer/ dimmer in case someone is interested in getting one, Hope you all enjoy pics as I did putting this all together, Trevor.
  13. Best of plans can go awol and mine did, my daughter decided to give birth 3 weeks early so had to abandon plans. Last weekend managed to get back to things and cleaned out the last 5 cages. Today the 5 cages are back into position, led lights fitted and wired + tested. So tomorrow it's making up the circuit, fitting timer, stand back and switch on, results will be posted tomorrow night + pics. Oops forgot, pair up as well. Trevor.

    What An End To 2014

What about putting false egg or eggs under the pair. Then you could incubate the eggs. When hatched then swop false egg for young. Just an idea, All the best, Trevor
  15. Emmy, That different one I reckon could be a grey Isabel, So both parents are split Isabel, The pied with not much white on could well be a good breeder, I've had piers like that and they produced 50 50 pied colouring, Good nest there Emmy, well done ! Trevor
  16. Dave, Sorry for late wishes but happy birthday, Hope you had a good day mate, Trevor.
  17. Hi Mark, Great hen there mate, That's the sort of zeb I only dream about over here in Norfolk, Love to see for real, Well done on your sucsess, All the best for the festive season and 2015, Trevor
  18. Here are 3 photo's of a bank of 5 linked up, This is a temp set up just for testing purpose and it worked, well pleased, So at the mo I've got a bank of 5 linked together and a bank of 3 wired but not linked up yet, So all's left is a bank of 5 to be cleaned and fitted with led's, Fingers crossed next weekend, Hope you like them, Trevor

    Led's

Having cleaned 3 cages out, I have wired them up only on a individual test a all worked ok. Now today I've cleaned out 5 more cages and tomorrow I shall be wiring these up + testing them. If all goes ok only 5 more to clean out and test plus connect all together. Gradually getting there. Photo's possibly tomorrow to view so far. Thanks for reading. Trevor
  20. Dave, Have a good day mate, Trevor
  21. Faracat, Your original pair, both are split for BC and Pied and just by chance you put them together, By using him and the BC hen she also must have been a strong black background, Which proves it in your next breeding of two male with black flanks, Well done for this keep it up, Trevor
  22. Chris, Great zeb's mate look good, I bet you're pleased with outcome, Thanks for posting pic's good to see when rare, More pic's when moulted out please ? Trevor.
  23. Hi Peter, The only way you can do it is by selective breeding, Also by making sure that the male or female are a good black colouring, Any of the zeb's which have chestnut flanks have in my opinion have fawn in their background, So by omitting these birds you will eventually get BC or any BC combo with black flanks, It does take time but I think it's worth it, Hope this helps, Any other questions please ask and I will try to help the best I can, Trevor
  24. Emmy, It's the only one, 2 did hatch but one died only after a few days, Trevor
  25. All, Here is my BFBCBB male colouring up nicely in the aviary from my shed, Most pleasing thing about this zeb for me is the black flanks, I'm gradually getting them to black now rather than the fawn colour, I now he's scruffy but the potential is deffo there, Thanks for looking, Trevor
