  1. Some very nice chicks Sarah, I like the yellow face. Did you get your cages from supapets? I have those cages and a few racks so i know what you mean about the cost lol
  2. Great news Sarah. I've an egg due to hatch on Christmas day if I've done my sums right lol, will be the first chick for the 2016 rings as well lol.
  3. Found out last night I've bred my first Texas Clearbody budgie. I've always liked them and wasn't expecting to breed one tbh. It's a hen, 4 weeks old today. She's actually an Opaline texas clearbody Have anymore of yours hatched Sarah?
  4. Good news Sarah! I've had 2 hatch on the same day so you never know what they get up to lol
  5. That looks a good set up and obviously you get to keep warm as your indoors all the time. I think if I had the ceiling like that the missus would have something to say haha. Mdf also contains glue that is poisonous to the birds if chewed and I'm surely read somewhere cyanide! I didn't bother with vent holes and to date have had no problems at all. The hole in the front and the slight gap at the back where the slide goes in does the job I feel. I will get a photo later of how my nest boxes sit. l like wicked I must say. Is the second last bird a dominate pied?
  6. That grey spangle has quite a few admirers I have to say lol. Is the photo a better size now? I'm using my phone so it's hard to tell. With the nest boxes I just drilled a couple of holes in them and used cable ties to attach them. That works with the table top and long type. The ones that sit to the side need 4 holes drilled. Pretty straight forward though. They come with Mdf concaves, I bin those as I don't want the birds chewing that stuff
  7. My photo disappeared because I tried to resize it, let's see if it worked lol
  8. The cages are from supapets and yes I think it's 145 roughly for 6 but they sell them in pairs too. I have some of their racks for them as well. Great cages but alot of mess gets out. If you check pvc nestboxes on ebay a company called oriel gems sell them, I have a few and are very good.I like ripple, how do they get on with the kakariki?
  9. Yeah the last is a spangle, last 2 actually. The last chick is only about 5 weeks old do going to be a big girl I think lol
  10. Umm, is it just me or are those photos massive lol?
  11. Ok Sarah, here you go. I discovered by accident that my birds couldn't mate because the perches were 2 small, I saw a cock try to tread a hen and they both fell. Since that I haven't looked back. Here are some photos!
  12. Some very nice birds there Sarah. My exhibition birds finally started breeding in August. I won't spam your thread with photos but I'm really pleased with the results. Your aviary looks really good
  13. Haha, yes indeed. I was a member on there for a year or so. Small world, sold my cougar just over a year ago though and bought an s type, bad move! Do you still own yours
  14. Welcome to the site, I'm also from Northern Ireland. Have you used that username on any car forums, it seems very familiar?
  15. I'll get a look later guys and get back to you, I'm pretty sure it has tail bars of some shape or description. Thank you both, hope you are enjoying your new year!
  16. I have had a chick fledge today, shows all of the signs of being a cfw other than it has no tear marks. It's parents have produced normal BB chicks in the past, is it possible then this could be a black breasted cfw? Thanks all in advance
  17. Brilliant Paul, thanks for the reply. I shall keep an eye on him!
  18. Thank you Paul, I had actually thought that myself about the melanism but wasn't sure if it would be right. Will this have any adverse affect on the bird, breeding etc? Thanks again!
  19. I didn't think of that. So they have black feathers and white feathers as opposed to black and white feathers? I haven't seen any evidence of feather plucking or any feathers lying in the cage. Seems quite strange that only the white ones be missing though. I will have to keep an eye on it to see if any potentially missing feathers grow back. Thanks again, Chris
  20. Does this sound right? I don't have any photo's at the minute but he has the complete black breast mark, no tear drop and a completely black tail, no white at all. He is one I bred myself and when i researched to see what mutation he was the description seemed to suggest the tail would still be black and white although patterned slightly different. Has anyone else had this, is it normal enough? Thanks alot in advance!
  21. Those look to be great examples there Baz. You seem to have a good set up behind them, how long have you been involved with birds? Chris
  22. Thank you both very much. I have the opportunity to buy a Fawn Hen, do you think she would be a good match for him in the sense of breeding? Thanks again
  23. Hi Mark, Thank you very much indeed, appreciate that very much! Well I'll ask you both this one, i got a really nice cock on Monday. He's a nice size bird and he's white. Having a bit of trouble trying to decide what colour/variety is best to pair him with. I did read that white and white is a bad idea. Have you guys any suggestions or leads? Thanks alot, Chris
