  1. Thought i'd pop up a second thread to ask this question. Just been out to take a photo of the white chick in the nest box and it's not quite what I thought it would be. Any ideas? (sorry photos not as good tonight!) It is completely white except for a dark washed out splash on the back of the neck and what looks like a brown face mark Also to my surprise I found a second white one in another nest And then checked on the third box to find 6 more chicks, all looking like clones of each other! (please excuse the dirty box, 6 chicks are making one **** of a mess, may clean it out tomorrow for them)
  2. No they are bigger, about the same size as a cockatiel but a little bit stockier. Not that I'm aware of, lol!
  3. thank you for the lovely comments. The photos are taken with a nikon 5100 digital slr camera with a zoom lens on. I love taking photos and the birds serve as a nice subject every now and again. Will take some ,more when my current chicks have fledged as very much looking forward to how they develop. Andyn - I jadnt really though about pattern etc, I just keep them for enjoyment and sell my surplus stock when i have a population explosion. I know they're not finches but thought it's share some more photos of the other aviary inhabitants Male canary Female canary (just started sitting a nest of eggs ) My two male kakarikis, both their females are in the nest box
  4. I'm new to the forum but want to share some photos of a few of my birds. I have them all in a large aviary and they breed happily. I have mainly normal or pied birds and one cfw hen. Most of my pieds are minimally marked split pied birds but I have just started getting some more heavily marker chicks. Adult male normal, cfw hen behind Fawn hen (sadly lost her to old age yesterday) and pied youngster Recently fledged nest of 5 pied chicks Pied male father with two of the chicks Pied male Pied fledgling Pied fledgling (from same nest as photo above) Same pied fledgling as photo above, this one has earned the nickname 'Two-face' Adult pied hen Currently have another 14 chicks in the next boxes, including one very heavily marked pied and a random cfw! Thanks for looking
