  1. as i said a bit of an odity not even sure that they would produce further half sider genes in their youngstersjust a quirk of mother nature a once in a blue moon type of occurance
  2. they are a bit of an odity surely not something one would want to breed withseen a couple i think dave edwards bred a one two or three years agoDave
  3. Its just not feasable to have a class for every possible combo and that's what a lot of these birds are combos not out and out mutationsHowever there is always a class for your birds so why not bench them anyway and let people see what your breedingThere is more to a show than best in show and the major awards and good competition occurs in some of the new colour sections and you will find good competition in these classesIndeed some fantastic pairs have gone on to win major honours
  4. hello michael, welcome,i have seen pictures of your birds on another site they looked stunningdave

  9. if you cant get normal hens this year you could pair a normal cock to chestnut henyou could get some normal hens via that routedave
  10. in my opinion good quality normal hens are the most important birds you can have in your shedthey can improve virtually any studtherfore being of such importance are hard to get hold ofi have produced a few through my cfw this year and even found getting pure normals cocks difficulthowever picking a pair of normals up next weeki reckon a few are lost through all these bloody new colours and peaple trying to get as many colours on a zebra finch as they canif we are not carefull we could find normals a rareity if more newcomers dont take these birds upnothing looks better than a top pair of normalsdave
  11. yeah stay well away from fawns but by all means introduce normal to improve colouri would use a normal hen initialy paired to a good coloured cfw cocksome of the young produced will be normal split cfw cocks and these are the birds to put back into your cfw linei have done this before and have managed to darken my cfw linehope this helpsdave
  12. yes all cfw produced with that pairingif already of good colour,no reason youngsters shouldnt be of good colourDave

  25. last year i introduced normal into my cfw and bred some normal/cfw cocks i kept the best two of these to pair to cfw hens this yearboth cocks produced some cfw cock youngsters and the colour has definatley improved in this years youngstersi have retained these two cocks to use next year and an aditional normal/cfw cock youngsterobviousley by pairing this way a number of normals wll be produced but normal hens are usefull birds to produce whatever you are breeding and the split cocks very usefull n maintaing and improving colour imo
