  1. Emmy I now have 2 new chicks they both hatched within hours of each other lets keep fingers crossed with these two i havnt moved the cage i daren't  even look to see if the babies are ok i check once a day .. you must be rushed off your feet with all those young'uns ...


  2. hey Emmy sorry to read a post re: Squeek , my baby died this morning as well gutted but another egg was hatching on top of it so think it might of got squashed I really dont no .... does this sort of thing happen often ? xx

Emmy ..... noooo poor lil Squeek :( I checked on my baby finch at 8am and it was fine then again at 11am and it was dead I'm gutted my 1st baby ever I carefully removed from nest with a teaspoon coz I didnt want to disturb the other eggs I tried blowing on it tapping its beak even tapped its little body to give it CPR but nothing  , BUT another egg was hatching on top of it so maybe got squashed I'm not sure , what do you think could of happened ? its heartbreaking isnt it ?


  4. oooh my goodness hand rearing ! i didnt realize how tiny it would be but unfortunately it has no eyes or wings so im not sure quite whats happening with the dear little thing right now :( maybe the other eggs will hatch out better xx

  5. lol I'm over the moon Andyn I only have 5 pairs .... yes I am learning I have read up and googled stuff .... this isn't just my first chick of the year ... it's my first chick ever lol :yahoo:

  6. well where do I start my birdies have laid eggs first time breeding for me , I have two cages and two nest boxes great I thought what could possibly go wrong !!!  also have a triple breeding cage where I was keeping x3 pairs and found eggs on the floor and flew into a blind panic tried everywhere to get nest boxes with no luck so bought little nest pans from local pet shop put dividers in treble cage attached nest pans and put the 3 eggs I found on the floor into my fawns nest as they had built one , which was fine then she had 5 eggs of her own so divided the eggs between the other two pairs now I dont no which eggs belong to who omg what a disaster ... anyway I'm sure you all get the idea ... but heres the thing some eggs are bigger than others and some shells are turning grey what is going on ? 1st egg was laid 26/11 and last egg as far as I can tell was on the 7/12 but they are all mixed up , I no we all have to start somewhere but what a tado .... please can someone advise what I should do next thank you xx  

    ps quick update .... one of the eggs has just had a baby this morning 12/12/16 omg so excited never seen an egg hatch .... anyway now in panic mode ! mixed up some egg food what else do I do ? any help at this stage appreciated xx

Hi everyone my name is Angel , I live in Mottingham SE London ... I have five pairs of zebra finches all sitting on eggs , I'm a novice in the true sense of the word lol although I have shown once at Joydens Wood Kent and got a 2nd on my CFW woop woop all my birds have been bought from there and they are beautiful birdies I will be joining "Zebra Finch Society" as it seems they are taking 2017 subscriptions ,  I will be asking lots of questions some may seem obvious to some of you but I am new to this so all advice and experiences are gonna help me

  9. hey Stu ...Angel here well all my pairs are sitting on eggs lol , how you doing ? and hows your bird house coming on surely got to be finished by now , I got in touch with Mr Simms the other day cos I went into panic mode when I saw eggs on cage floor anyway he gave me expert advice so everything sorted all in separate cages and all got nest boxes phew panic over lol Ill see you at Joydens Wood sometime next year
