  1. I really appreciate all your help. Would there be a way to tell if the dad was isabel or ff? How much of a difference is there? I live in the USA so I am thinking dad is probably a florida fancy but could be isabel. What do you think about the deluted colors? Am I right to think that the male chicks cheek patches are deluted or could there be another explination?
  2. Thank you Mark and Paul for your help. I got to thinking about it and I realized that the light in that room is very filtered in the evenings, so I took the cage into my kitchen with MUCH better light. Guess with I discovered? Fawns! I think one is a female as I really dont see any cheek patches. The other however I believe is a male. He has very distinctive cheek patches that are light buckskin (tan), they really stick out against his other darker feathers. So if Mom is a fawn and both chicks are fawns (almost the exact color as mom) what do you think Dad is? Isabel or Florida Fancy? Maybe Dad is a split fawn? If he was split grey the chicks would have been silver or grey right? Dads deluted cheek patchs have been passed to the son, or are they just too young to tell?I have heard that Fawn is a sex linked gene what does that mean? I really appreciate all your help, does anyone know of a site with a really simple explaination of genetics?
  3. Hello,I have two chicks that have been in/out of the nest for about three days now. Their color is quite different from any I have seen online. They are almost like a faded greyish blue color. At first I thought they were fawns but after lookiing at the fawn pics online, I realize that they are far from that. I thought maybe normal grey or silver, but they are a much lighter grey than any of the silver or normals I have been able to find.I got both parents from different pet stores. My hen is a very normal fawn, but my male we think is either a Florida Fancy or maybe Isabel or some sort of a split. The males markings are all faded, his cheek patches are more of a tan than orange and his back almost looks silver, and he doesnt have a breast bar.Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated, I will try to post pics when I can find a camera better than mine.
