Clare L 175 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Its only taken 2 years but have finally bred a penguin male All last years we're female. This photo does'nt do him justice really. Looks like he needs wraping up in cotton wool, they always seem so delicate Looking forward to next year when i can breed from him

Clare L 175 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Hi Paul, It is the bird on top of nest box, its the only photo I have of him at the moment. It is not very good, but I'm so chuffed just to have managed to breed one.
Huub Janssen 1 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 I don't think it's penguin, it is pied. Do you have a better and closer picture?
paulm 119 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 Hi Huub I was thinking along the same lines. Paul.
norfolk flyer 208 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 Clare, I'm afraid i'll have to agree with Huub and Paul, it's a fawn pied, one reason is that i think i can see a tear mark. On Penguin zeb's no tear mark, Trevor

Clare L 175 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 Hi Pip Alan & Josh, My Penguin is pied, unfortunatley my penguin line has pied in it Had a normal pied penguin but had faults, breast markings ect Still working on it as my first penguin was from a pet shop, I only bought him because I thought he was unusual, so still working on the blood line. Have produced some nice penguin hens, but males are elusive for me, hence my post, but will get there They are more mature now since I originallyu posted this will post some up to date pics for you Bear with big back catalalogue to look through

Clare L 175 Report post Posted May 1, 2013 Hi Whity, Thats great, wish I had that many. Sadly the ones I bred last year I no longer have, and only have one fawn hen and grey pied cock left at the moment, and they are related. So will be a while before I can breed any more full pengiuns. Had a problem with rats end of last year. Although the Hen is nesting at the moment so we shall see what happens Clare
