  5. Hi Andy, They're Terenzo cages made out of metal and powder coated, I bought them in 2005 from a pet shop that was closing down in blackpool. Each cage has a 8" florescent fitting with a day light tube, I'm going to convert some of them to SMD led's soon, these give off a whiter warmer light. Led technology has really moved on in the last twelve months. I might do a video or post some pictures showing how they would work in a cage or set-up, they are also very cheap to run. Gary

  9. Hi Wayne, Firstly sorry for the late reply from me. The bird that you've been looking at is a grey cheek hen, if your bird has fawn cheeks then it should be a fawn cheek. Both of these types are dominant and your best pairing would be a normal cock bird to a grey cheek or a fawn cock bird to a fawn cheek. The colour of the cock birds can vary in both types, but they retain the flank makings and the cheek patches are more orange than grey or fawn. Try not to pair these types together as they can produce youngsters that are blind. Hope this helps, Gary.

The attached file is a guide to mixing and preparing your own Zebra Finch mix from a combination of readily available seeds. I have prepared and mixed my own seed for a number of years now and I'm sure you will see the benefits this can bring once you try it for yourself. It also has the added advantage of providing your birds with a mix that is trailered to their own needs. I hope you find it useful and If you require any further information on this guide, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or PM. Gary.

  17. Here's another video with the other chick from the same nest, the other chicks got a little more colour and therefore may turn out to be a cock bird, although I could be wrong. Many thanks for all your comments. Gary.
  18. This young Grey Cheek fledged about a week ago, it's not started to colour up yet, but I really like the feather quality and beak shape. The parents raised three chicks, two Grey Cheeks and one Normal Grey, I thought I'd share this one with you. Gary.
