  10. Gary, I've got the following, Grey, Fawn, CFW, BCCFW,GC,GC Lightback + my white type GC's.When i pair them i never do 2 crests together + i keep the grey side and fawn side seperate from each other.Hope this helps, Trevor
  11. Paul, Thanks for info there, some of the lesser known mutations are hard to get size into. wouldn't this be taken into consideration on the bench.Eg, not to many years ago the penguin struggled for size but now it's up with the others.I was just thinking that surely it would attract more colours to the bench and possibly get more people to keep the more rarer types. Please don't think i'm disputing what you say, i'm just trying to make a constuctive comment. All the best Paul, Trevor
  12. Nick, I'll try and answer the best i can in drop order if thats ok.No i've never bred Cr-Cr, 1. It's dom to dom and i believe you stand a chance of getting blind chicks. I have had this with 2 x GC's by accident in my aviary.2 You don't really gain to much you get 50% Cr's on average by using one Cr. Also by using 2 Cr's i think 50% are still s/f and 25% are d/f so if they are all the same mutation you wouldn't be able to tell the difference (sf/df).Deffo Crest, if it's in Cr class then crest it should be, then mutation (rarer the better), then size.I always pair a Cr to a non Cr both of the same colour, Keep the grey side together and fawn together.Doesn't matter whether it comes from a non Cr pair or not. Being dominant it's not carried.I don't think so, Cr's and non Cr's seem to be ballanced from the parents. The crest to me seems to fit whatever size bird it's on, a big or small bird the crest seems to be in proportion with the bird. ............................I hope this makes sence Nick, if you're still unsure about anything i've put please contact me again. These veiws are based on my own findings. All the best Nick,Trevor
  13. Wayne, Welcome to the zff. Hope the inlaws like the finished artical, nice thought.Trevor
  14. Dave, Yes i do sell at Newark, i'm in the end shed the opposite end to the entrance.I'm getting mutations first then i'll work on size, cos i think you can always work on the size but sometimes getting certain mutations is hard. When it's on come over for a chat, i'll post my table no. nearer the time so if any other members are there likewise.Trevor
  15. Dave, As Mark said i do breed the crested type.As follows:-GreyFawnCfwBccfwGC (normal type)GC (pure white with faint cheek patch)GC LightbackWhat i find is that even if it's a poor crest, it breeds good crests and vice versa.I don't pair 2 crests together, do you?Do you go to any sales ? ie stafford, newark, norwich.Trevor
  16. Dave, Welcome to zzf you will deffo like it on here real good bunch, any probs just ask.Trevor
  17. Scott/Mark, If it's any use to either of you someone in NW Cheshire is selling some yellow beaks + other zebs. Birdtrader BT132515E Tel:- 01613431871Hope this is of use, Trevor
  18. Checking my register this afternoon and i've realised that in all my young this year i haven't had a male Crested CFW. My pairings have been Cr CFW x GC & GC x Cr CFW. Out of these pairings i've had CFW males and females, but only Cr CFW females + Cr GC's males and females. But other pairings i've got are GC x CFW & CFW x GC i've had males and females of CFW. Is this just one of those things or should i not get Cr CFW males ? Does this only work if you have a Cr cfw x cfw pair ? Thanks Trevor
  19. Hi Chris, All the best with your returning to zebs.Trevor
  20. Got back to normality, average month, but pleased with whats been bred. The 2 young at the end of last month's blog turned out to be 1x CFW and 1x GC white type. Sadly the cfw died for no apparent reason. CFW x GC = 3 young 2x GC white type + 1x Cr GC white type. FC x Cr Grey = 4 young 3x Grey + 1x Cr GC BCCFW x Cr CFW/BC = 4 young (to young to tell) CFW x GC white type = 2 young 1x CFW + 1x GC white type GC x CFW = 2 young + 4 eggs (way to young to tell) 15 for the month, soon be time to sort out what's going and what's not, more as it happens next month. Trevor
  21. Hi Dean, Welcome to the zff it's a very freindly forum and nothing is to much trouble to answer. All the best with your new hobby, Trevor

  23. Another month has passed and totaly different to last month really an upturn in youngsters. CFW x GC white type = 4 young 2 x CFW & 2 x GC white type BCCFW x Cr CFW/BC = 5 young 3 x Cr CFW & 2 x BCCFW GC x Cr CFW = 5 young 2 x Grey + 2 x GC & 1 Cr GC GC/CFW x Grey 5 young = 2 CFW + 1 Grey & 2 x GC CFW x GC 2 young = ? to young to tell (4/5 days old) This brings the total for the month to 21 young. Reason for this is that its been a lot wetter month than previous. More as it happens next month, Trevor
  24. Hameed, Welcome to the zff, hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Trevor
