  1. Nick, Happy birthday, sorry it's late, But hope you had good day. Trevor.
  2. I would agree with Dave, due to beak colouring, Silver would have a dark beak, Trevor
  3. Jon, Well done, got some good ones there, I'm not far behind you on chicks only one zero out, I'm on my 10th lol, Trevor.
  4. Clare, Well done ! I'm 99% it's a Silver, It's exactly the same as the one I had in the aviary, So we've both had a good result, Happy Days !!! Trevor
  5. All, Here's an up-date of my nest which I posted the other day, Well hear we go, 1x BCLB, 1x BCBBLB, 1x BCBB normal and a BFBCLB (hen), Really pleased with this nest, it's made up for a bad start, Thanks for looking, Trevor http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x343/trm03/IMG_8638.jpg http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x343/trm03/IMG_8635.jpg
  6. All, As they say don't count your zeb's before they hatch well this nest are due to come out in the very near future and I think I may have just hit one of my targets, If you look in the bottom R/H corner the dark headed one, It could be a BFBCLB or even a BFBCBBLB if it's either i'll be chuffed to bits as I've had a rubbish start to the season and it's still rubbish, But if this turns out it will make up for everything, Thanks for looking ! Trevor
  7. Emmy, Remember I tried to breed to hens ? well I think we're even now All the best, Trevor
  8. Mark, Really good birds there mate, Look better in my cages though  All the best, Trevor
  9. Aspen, On your fawn hen, has she got faded spots on her flanks as I can't quite make out, Her tail is not the norm for fawns, I'm thinking that she's got OB in her and that would be one part of the young, I'll wait for your answer before I commit myself anymore, Trevor
  10. Chris, Happy birthday mate, hope you had a good un ! Appol's for late greetings, Trevor
  11. Kerry, Happy birthday, Hope the zeb's are still doing good for you, Trevor
  12. Emmy, Good lot of young there, Nice looking Fawn hen on top perch, I keep looking in the background for that OBBB hen but can't see it, Must be well hidden I will find it !!! Trevor
  13. Michael, Happy birthday, Hope you had a good day yesterday, All the best, Trevor
  14. 25% BF / BC Fawn males 25% BF / BC hens 25% Normal / BC Fawn males 25% Normal / BC hens This should be what you've got, Trevor
  15. Hi Frank, I think you will find overall there is more advice given on this site than on zfs site, On here you will find info from buying your first zeb right through genetics and into showing, assembling aviaries and shed set ups, Which is a great range of info, zfs is good for showing your zebs, which members give good info on the subject of showing which the zfs specialises in, Helping the younger generation getting on the bench, plus info on your local breeders, As this is your first post I think you should know that your post should be in the General Discussion section (sorry), Keep posting, All the best Frank, Trevor
  16. Emmy, Yes your wish has been granted, You've got yourself a BC normal Congrats Emmy, Well done ! Trevor
  17. Steve, Happy birthday, Have a good un! Enjoy, Trevor
  18. Richard, A lot going on here, Both parents split BC, Like to see another photo f them in another 10 days, The cream coloured one looks interesting but we'll see, Well done again, Trevor
  19. Richard, Nice lot of orange to come out I can see, Well done, Trevor
  20. Stephen, Cream is a dominant type, which means a dominant colour cannot be carried, One of the parents has to show this colour, So in other words you will have to buy a Cream then match it up with a Fawn and 50% of your nest should be cream, It doesn't matter whether you obtain a male or female the % is the same, Hope this helps, Trevor
  21. Gareth, I've just posted on your garage and please don't take this wrong but I think you are trying to run before you can walk, If you are thinking about showing and never kept zeb's before, I would go to a pet shop or a garden centre or someone who has an aviary and buy a couple of pairs and let them breed, You then can get used to handling them, breeding them and close ringing the young, Buy a book or two, read up on the keeping of zeb's, what sort of seed, nesting material, added vitamins they need and welfare, Gain some experience before you go on leaps and bounds, As you said it's confusing so sit down with a pen and paper and write down what you could cope with comfortably, Go to some zfs shows look at the high standard of showing, speak to the exhibiters, gain more experience by visiting these shows, By the sound of your posts you are 100% full of energy, Control this energy and channel it in the areas that will help you the most, One small tip, I've kept zeb's for 40+ years now and I'm still finding and learning new things, It won't happen over night, Gareth I'm trying to be honest and I hope you understand what I'm trying to put across, All the best, Trevor
  22. Laurence, Happy birthday, have a good day, Trevor
  23. Hi, I would say that both the parents are split for white/pied, The young are BC Whites although you cannot and will not see the BC on pure whites, also they could have BF in them which once again doesn't show, If you paired one of these young to a normal BC you should get all the nest being BC which half would be Cr BC and the rest BC. The markings could be pied marks but a very small % these will probably grow out on the moult, There's a lot going on with these young, 3 lots of dominant for a start S/F Cr, D/F Cr and BF, Then you have BC, White/Pied, So it can be as you can see a number of things but I hope you understand what I'm trying to put across to you, After all that I do like the flecking affect on the crested one, All the best, Trevor
  24. Josh, Good crest there mate, Well done, put cfw with her keep it the same, Keep breeding them, Trevor

    Skin Colour

Andy, There are two sides to zeb's light side and dark side, For eg cfw dark skin, conti cfw light skin, normal ds and fawn ls, So what I'm thinking is poss the dark skin one could be a Grey Penguin and the other due to light skin could be a Fawn Penguin, So if the parents are both Grey Penguin the male could be split for fawn which would = 25% Grey Penguin split Fawn males 25% Fawn Penguin hens 25% Grey Penguin males 25% Grey Penguin hens Trevor
