  9. As Nick says if it your intention to breed for the showbench buy your birds from someone who breeds and shows their birds if you are purely breeding for fun and trying to breed different colours and combos ect crack on these will be fine When buying from auction you dont know what colours birds are also carring if you save your cash you can go to area shows and pick good birds up for as little as a tenner in the bird sale section Dave

  11. Hi Mark Welcome and enjoy the forum Dave
  12. if i have any spare birds when you are ready to start up you are very welcome to have a look i would definatley try to get birds from breeders who can give you some backround of the birds you buy try getting to a couple of zebra shows aswell to give you an idea of the birds standard and the breeders who breed them nowadays and the different mutations available most have good sales sections aswell Dave
  13. Jimmy still has zebras and he was a judge for many years he still puts together the s@nczfs year books ect i keep mostly fawns cfw and normals there are a lot more colours and combinations than when you last had them and you need to be careful any birds you bring in are not masking other colours as some of these colours are recesive what colours you looking to keep?
  14. I would be exited too! well done looks a good un Dave
  15. Hello and welcome im from Ashington originally and then lived in Carlisle for 20 years and there was quite a few Zebra finch breeders in Carlisle then, Jimmy Addison used to live up the road from me the top man in Zebras for many a year,Who did you get your birds from? Enjoy the forum Dave
  16. Some nice creams Jon and that young fawn looks like he could be a belter! well done
  17. Yes if your trying to breed nice coloured normals, normal x normal and keep your normal line as pure as possible you can dip into these to help improve other colours Dave
  18. Adam i would think twice about releasing so many of your normals they are very usefull birds to have around and a good quality normal hen is about the most usefull outcross you could have, might be worth keeping a couple more than you intend to use to keep in reserve been trying very hard to fetch a really good normal hen in for a couple of years and they are like rocking horse poo besides that they are a stunning bird Dave
  19. i like him Nick Wish i could breed a few normals myself
  20. Nice birds Nick well done mate nice colour too
